camaro 84 with 454

i have a 1984 camaro z28 i got a 454 big block out of a truck to put in it what is the stock horsepower on the a 1978 454 stock and the car is being builded for street/drag racing so whats a cheap way to make it do the job -- Jacob M Totten

I hate to say it but I think the horsepower of one that year is around mid to high 200 area. You can boost that to the 400 or 500 area with aluminum heads, intake, headers, carburator and a decent cam. You will need to get a better rear, 9 inch, 12 bolt, or s60. You are also going to need frame connectors and a torque arm relocation kit. That helps alot with traction from what I hear. All of that stuff can be really expensive. For a fast street car you can just leave the suspension alone and spin your way to 12s with that kind of power but you may eat a few rears. -- 1994 Camaro basemodel swapped to a LT1 m6
