Sum of my races the past 2 weeks

First was about a week ago, a kid in a Mazda 626 5spd, wanted a go. This looked to be bone stock, with his entire drivers side caved in like he had hit a guard rail or something.
We got a red light, and I staged to about 3500, he revving as high as his weed eater would go. Light turns green, I ease out of the clutch, wind it up, and hit second before he gets traction from the gay little burnout he did. Long story short, I put about 3 cars on him by the middle of third and thats when I let out of it and he did a nice little "flyby". I honked and waved as I turned off, and he gave me the finger. I shook my head and thought get a clue and a better car dumbass.

Sunday I was driving home after fixing my little sisters computer at my parents house. I was heading north on I-55, about 4:00pm. I hear this annoying buzzing coming from the passing lane. When I looked over, it was a chick in an SVT Focus. I thought this would be a good run, and she evidently thought the same when she looked over and saw me checking out her car. She downshifted, and punched not even giving me a chance. I immediately went from 5th to 3rd at around 60mph.
This stopped her pull, but 4th gear is so tall in these t-5's, I was kind of worried. I just slowly started walking her till the top of fourth, and I let off. I will race on the streets, but only when there is no traffic and it is in a straight line so I can see what is ahead.
We both get off at the highway that I take to get home, and get a red light at the next intersection. I was in the slow lane this time, her in the passing lane. I stage again somewhere above 3000, let out of the clutch pretty quickly, got some nice wheel hop, and took off. She was about to my back bumper when I was going into second. I slowly got ahead of her to what I think was about 1 3/4 to 2 cars ahead of her by third. Again, this is getting about 10mph over the speed limit, so thats when I shut down. Probably around 65mph I think.

Anyways, had some fun races in the 6er, don't do it very much though. This transmission is failing quickly, and I don't feel like blowing up the motor until I get the dough for a good rebuild.

I can see why you worry about the Transmission, but how many miles are on it that you're worried about the motor?

It's about to roll the 103k.... I dunno. I am very good about keeping up with the tuneups, all the fluid changes etc, and it still has very good oil pressure. I just don't want to beat on it too much.

And Brett, I don't really know. Those 2 months of being laid off have wiped me out. Its a slow climb out of a hole of debt and late payments....

With 103 you should be find to beat the crap out of it. Those 3.8's are tough. Too bad the same can't be said about the transmissions, lol.

No kidding. gm gets the T-5 rated at 230 lbs/tq when the others were rated at 300. When the 3.8 pulls 225 stock, you can see why the T-5's in here don't last too long.

No, 200hp/225tq. And I wish I could throw a 6 speed in there. That would make going turbo all the sweeter. The main options I am looking at right now are going with GForce rebuild or switching to a built auto with about a 3k stall.

Someone is working on a T56 conversion kit

103k is nothing for the 3.8. I traded my first 97 Camaro in at 135k miles and the motor was still going strong. I went through a few trannys, but the motor was good. I think my short shifter was eating synchros and i'd drive on bad synchros which would destroy the trannys.

3.8's are definitely tough motors. My GTP is running 12 lbs of boost with 130k on it and it doesnt smoke a bit. Then again I had 200k on my old LT1 T/A and it only lost .1 in the 1/8th from the day I bought it with 100k on it right up til the end at 202k (traded it in, still running strong). Hopefully this new LT1 Harlan's building for me will hold up to the boost!

somthing like that happened to me a little diff tho
it was a saturday night I am at home damn near sleep when the phone goes off. it one of my buddys tellin me there's and old daytona up town wants to race. got up ran up town and this thing looked like the biggest pos. sounded like a miss little ass 2 in pipe he pulls out I follow. get almost out of town and let her eat. next thing you no he next to me and I here this loud ass wistle and see his purge and he was GONE!!! later found out he was running 250 shot on a twin turbo stroked out 4 bangger

I'm not insulting or anything but shouldn't you have smoked the 626 no problem? 3 cars? How fast did you get upto?
