Caught a little race last night...

Cruising up the local strip to Hooters to meet BSM when a teal colored 6-speed LT1 Z28 gets next to me and starts messing with me. We got to a light with one car in front of me and him first in the next lane, so I opened my cutout to let him know I wasn't stock. Once he heard that he was all over me for a race. I would never race on the strip because there are too many cops, but if you keep going it turns into highway. Well I was able to keep him hooked until we got to the highway and then he got next to me. We were going 50mph so I put it into second figuring we'd do the 3 honks, but as soon as I downshifted, he was off. He had about a car head start when I hit it and I stopped his pull in second and started catching back up. About 1/2 way through 3rd gear I shot past and then just kept putting lengths on him in 4th.
We got off the highway and spun around and waited until there was no traffic then got back on. We were going at a slow roll in first gear and he gave the three honks and then we both hit it. I started pulling immediately and by 90mph (part way through 3rd gear) I was well ahead so I let of.
We pulled into Hooters and shook hands, I told him they were good runs. He asked what I had done and I told him a cam, bolt-ons, and a 12-bolt. He said he only had CAI and exhaust (not sure if he meant full exhaust or just a cat-back). He said he was trying to see how his car would do against an LS1 and his buddy told me that he doesn't think LS1's are that much faster, lol.
I guess he picked the wrong one to test that theory out on, lol. -- Red 2002 Camaro Z28

Nice race. Also, nice to see you hit that illusive 11 second mark. It was a goal of mine once but it'll have to wait. At least no miles go on the car..lol. Oh, can you list the specs on the ESP1 cam? -- 94z28 13.0@109 (still tweaking) best 60ft:2.22

Man, I think you and I would be a good race RSM. Granted this is just bench racing but with my 75 shot I hit 11.8 so that would really be a drivers race (although we all know the best drivers come from AZ ) --

I don't think it matters where the driver's come from. I hear that if you run at a track in Texas then you can't be beaten!
The specs on the car are 230/236 .551/.551 112lsa.
What was your mph on the 11.8 secdon run? I know my car has more et in it, but I can't seem to get the launch down, lol.
I must be a glutton for punishment because now I'm feeling the need to mod my LT1, lol. -- Red 2002 Camaro Z28 M6

I was running at 118-119 with a 1.75 60'. I know what you mean on the launch issue. I'm pretty consistent now but I can't get past the 1.7 barrier I think I need full on race slicks because the DR's just don't seem to be getting me there. Edit: I was running low 12's on motor so even then I think we'd be close.

idk...a t56 was put in place of the 4l60e. Upgraded to adjustable bmr tq arm and bmr lca's (trying to get rid of all the wheel hop). Basically I'd like to get anything under 2.0 60ft, considering the manual swap. Mph should go up a tad but 60ft who knows. -- 94z28 13.0@109 (still tweaking) best 60ft:2.22

LOL, I thought I was gonna catch another race last night but it never happened. This kid with a primered mid 90's Supra kept trying to get me to go but we were on the main strip (cops everywhere up there). Once we got to the highway there were no other cars and it would have been perfect, but he suddenly wouldn't get next to me, lol. -- Red 2002 Camaro Z28 M6

im taking an s turn at about 30 in 3rd gear, (165s up front dont handle well kiddies) and hes on my ass, i get on the straight away for route 17 north , totally straight, and he comes flying around the right and my dumbass just burries my foot, yeah an 825cfm carb, vic jr intake and my cam does not like anything under 3k rpm, so my dumbass forgot to downshift to 2nd and my car basically bogged and he pulled a ricer flyby on me and by the time i got to my powerband i started gaining and there was a pick up in front of me, so i stopped, the kid always comes by revving and using his gay BOV, that reminds me theres also a fag in an m3 thats getting kicked ... im going to tell them 500 bucks, from a dig , i get to launch -- 1989 Mustang LX hatch ...best so far 12.00 @ 118 1.86 60' street tires
