I will throw this one out, i have a 98 m6 ls1 car putting down about 530hp to the wheel with a 150 shot of juice. here are the mods that might matter, strange 12 bolt with 3.73, spec stage 3 plus clutch, boxed sfc's, tubular rear control arms, adjustable tourque arm (pinion angle set to -3) kyb adjustable front struts and rear shocks. the best 60' time i can muster is a 1.9, i have mickey thompson et street radial tires, and if i try to launch hard at 4k plus rpm it just blows them off (running 16psi) tried different pressure and just got wheel hop. i just sold a set of hoosier do5 compound drag slicks in a 15" because i cant seem to find a rim for a 4th gen in a 15 with the right offset, unless i have weld custom make them, i guess. anyway, i see guys on here pulling down 16-1.5 60' times on the et steet radials, what is the key, or should i get some et street non radials. buddy runs 9's with them on his GN. I dont want to buy just a slick cause i dont go to that many test & tunes, but alot of races that require a dot leagl tire. if i could drop my 60' time down should put me in low 11's. any help will be appriciated. -- 98 t/a tpis long tube headers, tpis edit, ls6 intake magnaflow cat back, kyb adjustable front struts, racetronix 255l in tank pump with hotwire kit.

Do you have relocation brackets for your lower control arms? You could get a set of 15x10 weld prostars or draglites with 5.5 inches of backspacing and they should fit no problem. You may have to do a little bit of grinding on the calipers but nothing crazy. It wouldn't be a bad idea to run a spacer and longer studs on the back wheels either. It's safer that way and it'll keep tech off your butt. -- 94z28 13.0@109 (still tweaking) best 60ft:2.22

^relos?
basically the only thing you can do is just get more tire. like John said, some better wheel studs and a larger wheel will help alot.
and MT makes ET radials, they are DOT but are a different compound and tread design.
what size tire are you running right now?
btw, how much are you heating the tires before launches? --

Relos for sure, might wanna look into a shorter torque are or a set of Petes Z bars and ditcht he torque arm altogether. A little more rear sping would help as well, some little twist in spacers work wonders.
What have you done to the front suspension to get the front end up??
I'd ditch the front sway bar and go for a set of trick fronts of you are serious about drag racing.
Tires arn't the problem, weight transfer and application of the weight is your problem. Lots of guys run very fast 60's on the M/T's, plenty of people run a 1.9 on regular old street tires. --

i do not have the relocation brackets, yet. I was wondering how big a diff they would make. as for the front the kyb adjustable strut i think is a pretty trick unit. seems to work pretty well. i am going to go to the track on the 16th of june and use a buddy's regular drag slicks and see how much if any diff they make. thanks for the help -- 98 t/a tpis long tube headers, tpis edit, ls6 intake magnaflow cat back, kyb adjustable front struts, racetronix 255l in tank pump with hotwire kit.

one quick question why is your pinion at -3 , is your tailshaft on your trans up +3 ? -- 1989 Mustang LX hatch ...best so far 12.00 @ 115 1.82 60'

blck89rs, from what i understand you should set your pinion angle to negative 2 or 3 degrees on a manual car so that on acceleration it comes to 0 degrees, this is from bmr and everybody else i have talked to. -- 98 t/a tpis long tube headers, tpis edit, ls6 intake magnaflow cat back, kyb adjustable front struts, racetronix 255l in tank pump with hotwire kit. spec stage 3+, strange 12 bolt 3.73's, bmr ta,sfc's,lca's,loop,150shot of the good stuff

relos are important to change the geopmetry of your LCA's, so that they put the power down better.
some guys like to run stiff front springs and soft rears, with some 60/40 shocks, to improve weight transfer on the launch. --

15x10 welds require a 7.5 backspacing I believe --

ive been talking a couple people such as people from metco, and a few buddies that run malibu's and build them and they said that when the tailshaft of your trans is point down ( the - pinion angle) that the rear should be pointing up to give you the + pinion angle and end up with a 0 pinion -- 1989 Mustang LX hatch ...best so far 12.00 @ 115 1.82 60'

^ that is correct, but tailshaft angle has to equal pinion angle. --
