2 Funny Car/Drag Race Conversations Posted By: LightningquickLS1 On: 03-19-2010 @ 11:10:17 Reply | Edit Had a few minutes on my coffee break at work and I figured you guys might enjoy these. 
The first conversation occured while a few of my fraternity brothers and I were hanging out with some sorority girls on campus last week for "Freshman Orientation". We were up in the dorms hanging out, and one of my friends introduces me to her new bf (whom Id heard alot about, but hadnt met yet!). She attempts to start up a conversation between us and says, "Mike has like the sexiest car on campus, you guys will definitely get along!!!". His ears perk up to this, and the conversation ensues... Him- What kind of car do you have? Me- A 99' Trans Am Him- LT1? Me-Nope LS1 Him-Any Mods Me-Yeah shes got quite a few now (brief discussion about what I have done over the years) Him-You would probably love my car if youre into speed, I have a sweet ride myself. Me-Oh yeah what do you have? Him- I have an ORIGINAL SVO Mustang with a turbo Me- (Not my type of car, but im being respectful here because I like my friend alot!) Oh thats cool, those are pretty sweet. I hear they are dammn rare as well! Him-Yeah, shell probably be the fastest car on campus when i bring her up next year. Me- Oh yeah, what kind of work do you have done? Him-I have LT Headers and a full intake, plus a racing chip. Shes barely street legal with how fast she is now Me-(TRYING MY HARDEST to keep a straight face because I dont want to hurt this kids feeling or get into an argument with him!)- Is that all thats done? Him-Yeah man, but you have to remember how fast the SVO's are stock from the factory. Most people dont even realize it. You put headers and a good intake on there and youve got a low ten-second car in sheeps clothing. Me (About ready to keel over at this point because this kid is DEAD serious and is obviously clueless, I decide to check his "BS" capabilities..) Oh really? I had no idea. Did you ever race yours? Him-Yup, I ran at the track quite a few times. Me-What does she run? Him-11 flat all night long, but I try not to beat on her too much. Me-Oh REALLY? What kind of trap speed? So you must have a cage in there right? What track do you run at? Him-Island Dragway, I dont have a trap speed though. That track dosent give you that, just your times. And Nope, no cage. I do have subframe connectors and extreme bars underneath though, does almost the same thing. Me-(My lips are actually curling at this point, im having such a hard time controlling myself, and im laughing inside because he has NO idea how well I know that track or that I race there too!!) -Oh yeah. Thats funny because Island wont let you run that fast (or any track) without a cage. How many times did you do it? Him-Oh, the tech guys love me there so they let me slip through, I have some pull over there because of how quick my car is. Me (Still laughing becuase he ALSO has NO idea that one of my best friends Melissa (79camarodiva)s family OWNS that track, and there is NO way theyd let God run that fast without a cage let alone a 20-year old kid in a 20 year old Mustang!) -Thats crazy man, we should race sometime when you bring her to school, have some fun cruising. Him-I would man, but I dont think you could keep up, no offense! Trans Ams are in a different league than an original SVO. Id be happy to give you a spin though! Although youll probably want an SVO after a ride in my car, almost all of my friends do now.  At this point I lost it, and had to excuse myself from the room..
The second stories not as funny, but it involves a kid who IMd me out of nowhwere last night claiming to have seen my screenname somewhere, and interested because I too live around Hackettstown. Him-Hey is this Mike with the red Trans Am? Me-Yup who is this? Him-You dont know me I am a senior at Hackettstown High school, but I saw the pic of your car and your friends Lamborghini. I have seen your car and it is awesome! Me-Thanks alot man, i appreciate it. Him-I have a fast car as well, you may have seen it around. Its a silver Evo. Me-Yup I probably have, those are fun cars. Damn quick too! Him-Yeah, I ran 13.3 with it at the track quite a few times. Me-Oh yeah? At island right? What kind of 60 foot? Him-1.5, sometimes a high 1.4. We should meet up the next time you go! Me-Oh man. Your clutch must HATE you. Those AWD launches reak havoc on a drivetrain, and with that kind of 60 foot you must be dropping her HARD. Him-Yeah man, about 6k RPMS. My car is brand new but the clutch is already making noise and it grinds going into gear sometimes. I think i messed her up racing at the track so much. Me-So why dont you launch a little easier since its a street car? Him-I would man but i have a need for speed and the car is soooo much more fun to race with a hard launch. So there you have it folks, further proof that without a tire-shredding launch out of the hole, the EVOs are nothing to be afraid of!  (By the way I ended up talking to this kid for about a half hour and i have nothing bad to say, just thought you guys would enjoy the conversation about his cars time. He seemed like a really nice kid whos just young and a little clueless about cars at 17 years old, but he had NOTHING but nice things to say about my ride so he is okay in my book!  Very friendly kid. --

They cock off and rattle on with their supposed extensive knowledge of the LT1 and LS1 and on and on. They have no idea who they're talking to or really just how much I know. Not long ago me and my buddy Bill met this guy that had an LT1 something-er-other and Bill told him I had an LT1 car. The guy proceeded to barf absoloute LT1 BS all over me. I tried a couple times to correct him on shit, but of course he was convinced he was right.  After five minutes of it, mid sentance on the guy I turned to Bill and said get me the fuck away from this guy before I hurl. Bill just started laughing and we walked off and left the guy there.
I get sooooooo tired of those idiots. And they're everywhere. --

I love totally going along with them and seeing how far out of whack they will go.
