Yeah, if he has ran the car at the track before, and knows 25% how to drive his car, you will lose for sure.

Now if you're a really good driver, and Mr. T/A just floors it on green, you should be able to edge him out.

You only have 160 ft.lbs of torque.

It actually could be a good race. LT1's usually run high 13's, low 14's stock. But at ACTO have been known to go quicker. Your S2000 is a 14 sec. car.

I still give the advantage to the Trans Am. You'll have to drive your butt off to win, but it's not completely hopeless.

Don't get your hopes up. If the LT1 is ragged out to hell and it's auto tranny is slipping, you might get a little ahead.

I raced a newer S2000 in my other Stealth (non-turbo) and pulled 2 cars from around 50 - 80mph. It had an asian man driving with a hot asian girl in the passenger seat.

After the race, she got out and got in my car, and yes, they are really sideways.

Ok, the last phrase was a joke, but I really did beat the S2000 fairly easy.

Advantage: trans am. That is, if it's in good shape.

My '88 IROC-Z ran a 14.9 @ 92, and at least for a 0-60 run I was ahead. I hear the cars are tricky to drive and that you have to keep them in the rev-range in order to make any power.

The amount of torque (or lack thereof) that your car has will not help you. If you can drive well, there's a chance you may hang close, but if he has any mods at all he will probably get at least a couple cars.

It's important to remember that it's not just the horsepower that matters. . . it's also at what RPM range you make that power, etc. The LT1 makes peak torque down low and holds it pretty well through the rev-range. You're looking at 285 HP for him and instant-on torque pretty much through his rev-range. You make 240 (peak) hp and have to wait a while to get it (at least from what I remember of S2000 dyno-graphs).

Whatever the outcome, I wish you luck and it will be fun! Let us know how it goes.

Very true words iroc man. Torque is always a deciding factor. A lack of torque means a lack of breath. and a narrow powerband means less speed. Example: 600 hp supra getting smoked by a 500hp ls1. For this race, providing the t/a isnt clapped out and the driver knows what he's doing, he will win. No bias.

turbocharged vehicles make lots of torque so i would guess that 600 horse supra would still have an advantage over the LS1. now a 1000+ horse supra obviously has a little bit, but only slightly, of turbo lag

supras are dyno queens- and peak numbers mean nothing without a big fat steady power curve. yeah blown out turbo cars win sometimes but there is no replacement for ls1,2,6,7 displacement. if you think so, go write stuff on turbo forum or some place with civics and srt-4s and junk.

"turbocharged vehicles make lots of torque so i would guess that 600 horse supra would still have an advantage over the LS1. now a 1000+ horse supra obviously has a little bit, but only slightly, of turbo lag "

Thank you, I didn't want to say it. Turbocharged vehicles make mucho torque. Usually a higher torque number than horsepower.

I believe in alternatives. Don't get me wrong, I love my V8's, but damn, you guys can't hide from the fact that turbocharged V6 DOHC engines won't run right beside you (or in front of you) with the right mods. Well, mine will :-)
