Raced a "factory freak" tonight Posted By: RedScreaminMachine On: 03-12-2010 @ 23:12:01 Reply | Edit A couple weeks ago this kid that I work with came up and asked if I wanted to run his buddy's 2002 Camaro. I said sure and asked what was done. He told me that it had a couple of bolt-ons and a rear (turned out to be a Moseer 12-bolt with 3.73's). It had crap tires though and was a 6-speed. I told him what I had, but not the power I made or my track times and he said that his friend was gonna beat me (apparently told other people at the shop the same thing, lol). He was real confident so I was thinking that he either had nitrous or a built rear with slicks and was banking on his launch to save him. I kept asking but he kept to his story and said that it was a factory freak and was going to smash me. He wasn't saying it to be a jerk, he just thought his friend's car would win. The kid kept telling me how his friend beat an 03 Cobra and it hasn't lost yet. I told him that I knew for a fact that if he was being straight up about the mods then I was going to win, and that I wanted him to know up front so he wouldn't say that I hussled him or anything. That was a couple weeks ago and tonight I get a call asking if I want to run him tonight. I was definitely up for it and we went down to meet up with them. The kid seemed pretty cool and we went out to line up. He had 3 people in his car so he must have been pretty damn sure of himself, lol. He wanted to go from a stop so we went to an empty, straight highway connector and lined up. He honked 3 times and we both launched. I got a good launch and basically the smashing began. I took it up to about 120mph and I don't know how far ahead I was, but he was small in my rear view mirror. We spun it around and he wanted to go again from a roll so we went from a second gear roll, he honked 3 times and I took it up to about 120 again and beat him by at least 5-6 cars. It was hard to tell exactly, but it wasn't pretty, lol. Afterwards we went to a parking lot and talked. he said good race and basically that he never lost before. he said that my car was real fast and I thanked him and told him what it had for power and such. It was real funny, because the kid was actually sad that he lost, lol. he honestly thought that he was gonna beat me with his "factory freak", lol. its actually very simple. turbo pistons from summit, turbo kit provided by ebay, and a decent turbo from anywhere
