Awesome races with another Z28

Posted By: RedScreaminMachine On: 03-17-2010 @ 01:15:59         Reply | Edit
BSM and I were out cruising and hanging with some friends tonight and we got next to a champagne colored Z28 at a light. The kid was real cool and we started talking about what he each had done. I told him bolt-ons and a cam and he said the same, but he also said he had ported LS6 heads. His car was an M6 also. I was gonna ask if he wanted to run, but the light changed and they turned before we got another one. Later on I was leaving D&D and I hit it a little and I saw Camaro light behind me. Turned out it was him and he was definitally up for a race.

We headed out to the dark end where there are no cars and lined up going about 50mph. Both of us were in second and I honked three times. He started with his front bumper at my front wheel and we went to 120+ mph with him falling back to the rear of my door. VERY close race!

We pulled into the gas station and as he got gas we talked and he said that with his current setup he made 416 to the wheels (same dyno I was on). He finished up and asked if I wanted to go again. I said sure and we headed back out.

We lined up going about 20mph and both hit it. I started pulling a bit harder this time (I think because I was powershifting the crap out of it this time). By 120mph I had a solid car on him.

We ran once more from a 50mph roll. I went a touch late and he pulled about a car on me. By 100-110mph (not sure exactly) I had pulled back a 1/2 car, but we let off with him ahead that run.

Very cool kid, and a damn close races! Most fun I've had in a while.

That's cool that you found the same car with mods that make similar power, sure does make the race much more thrilling when you have no clue the outcome. Very nice kill btw. I can't even imagine what that beast is gonna be like with heads, if you decide to do them.
