well i had not been outside all day today so i went to the grocery store around sunset cuz thats the best time to be outside anyway
on the way there some guy about my age (21 or 22) got beside me at a light in his forest green LT1 camaro. he revved, wasnt stock exhaust. i asked him what he had and said he had just basic simple bolt on's, free mods, and gears
well needless to say i ate a few carlengths up right off the bat and from there pulled away at a somewhat decent pace til about 85.
now i want a go at a slightly modded LS1 --

A cam and reworked bottom end would probably be considered "bolt-in's" rather then bolt on's. i'd still run for fun though

an ls1 will run 13.7 maybe 13.6 with a good run. While an 01 or 02 SS or WS6 with good driver can dip 13.1s or not unheard of to to lower. That is over half of a second. -- 2002 Trans Am WS6 M6 Beautiful Pearl White. 4k miles! Stock times coming, mods may come too.

the ss and ws6 have a freer flowing intake, exhaust, and steeper cam profile. The previous times listed hold true. The ws6 and ss can run low 13s. the standard runs mid-high. 3.42 gearing also versus 2.73. and the 01 and 02 lack the egr and have the ls6 intake manifold. all of these key ingredients add up. Only when modded will the two not see a difference. -- 2002 Trans Am WS6 M6 Beautiful Pearl White. 4k miles! Stock times coming, mods may come too.

Well... I haven't seen as to where the ss and ws6 run any faster than any ls1 fbody. I beat a stock 02 ws6 with my car by about 2 cars to 115 mph. Ls1's from what I have heard can dyno anywhere from 280-320 rwhp in any platform, although the ss and ws6 may look better with the hood and wheels they aren't noticeably faster. -- Red '99 Z28, M6, Factory body kit, K&N CAI, Flowmaster Catback (I know everyone thinks it sucks, but it sounds good), Hypertech 180 degree thermostat, Jet performance chip, MSD 8.5mm wires, chrome 18" AR Rebels

wow. I guess ignorance is bliss! screaming 99z dude, did you run below 13.2s stock? My good friend runs 13.2 @ 107. I will be faster than that, because we have raced from a dig 5 times and i won each time. I doubt any non performance package car will do that. Doesnt anyone visit the drag strip? I have seen a stock ws6 on nittos run 12.95 @108. I have never seen a stock reg. ls1 run below a 13.5. -- 2002 Trans Am WS6 M6 Beautiful Pearl White. 4k miles! Stock times coming, mods may come too.

yes i do agree with slim. These things happen, and stock ls1 guys sometimes beat z06's. These things happen. All I am insisting before letting this winded post die is that the specs and the 280-320hp at the rear wheels is a big difference between the non performance package car and ws6 and ss. -- 2002 Trans Am WS6 M6 Beautiful Pearl White. 4k miles! Stock LS1's only hitting 13.7 ?

2fast, here is an example of your own ignorance, I was trying to dig up a thread that included people's stock times and came up with a thread that YOU created "stock times" and there is a stock '00 ws6 at 13.6 and a stock '99 z28 at 13.1, http://www.fbody.com/cgi-bin/ls1/read.cgi?msgid=79356#79356 . I don't know if those times are true or not but I still say stock for stock between any ls1 fbody it all comes down to how well you can drive the car. Looking at some of the dyno numbers on here some stock ls1's are stronger than others whether it be in a ws6, ss, or in the "non performance" package.
BTW, nobody needs your cocky 15 year old attitude....haha -- Red '99 Z28, M6, Factory body kit, K&N CAI, Flowmaster Catback (I know everyone thinks it sucks, but it sounds good), Hypertech 180 degree thermostat, Jet performance chip, MSD 8.5mm wires, chrome 18" AR Rebels

Yeah, 2fast. . . I'm sorry to break it to you but the biggest difference between SS and Z28 is the hood, the suspension, and the exhaust. On a dyno, a Z28 will put out nearly the exact same numbers as an SS. It's proven time and time again. . .
Ask anyone in the LS1 section, they will tell you the same. Not trying to hate. There is not a more agressive cam profile; the 98-00's had a slightly more agressive cam but the standard LS1 intake. 01 and 02 got the LS6 intake but the less extreme cam. There are differences in the years, but not between internals of engine on Z28 and SS or T/A and WS.6. If someone told you otherwise, they were feeding you bull-sh!t. --

I don't know what you guys are smokin, but in my book, exhaust, intake, and gears count for something. With my mods I'm only beating my buddies stock SS by just over a car length in the 1/4, due to the et streets. From a roll we are dead even. Why? because i had to do the intake, exhaust and gears to get it to run with him. Before that he had me by a little over 2 cars. I ran a 13.51 stock, his best was a 13.25. An LS1 is an LS1,(the engine itself) and thats why I bought mine without the ram air, because I knew I would have more money for mods anyway. Some people choose to get the whole deal. It doesnt matter. All new fbodies kick ass. -- 1999 Trans Am... 13.11@108 ET street radials, Slp intake, SLP loudmouth exhaust with Y pipe, ram air hood, 17" ws6 wheels, 3.42 gears
