I need a little input. I'm going to the strip on the 3rd. I'm going to be racing against a totally stock Camaro SS w/ an LS1 and an Automatic. Just wondering if anyone knew what those cars run at the track? I talked a lot of crap to this guy and want to know if i can actually beat him. The last time out i went 14.0 spinning the tires real bad through first. I stripped at least 185 lbs out of my car and I'm mounting drag radials before i go. I'm expecting around a 13.4 for my car. Thanks. -- 96 Red Z28 6 Speed. 14.0 @ 101mph 2.2 60ft.

I've seen an auto LS1 run anywhere from a 13.2 @ 107mph to 14.0 @ 102mph. It all depends on weather, driver, and even the particular car (2001-2002 are generally faster for instance). Let us know how it goes. -- Red 2002 Camaro Z28

A stock auto SS with a decent driver should run mid-low 13s. I have SEEN stock M6s run 13.0x's. Very rare however. But autos should be below 13.5s and manuals can get down in the real low 13s.

165k miles, drag radials, weight reduction, removed front sway bar, air foil, hypertech power programmer, 160 thermostat, cold air intake, opened up MAF, cut off muffler, TB coolant bypass. Just ordered a NOS single nozzle Power-Fogger kit (75-125hp). That should help my times a little.
The guy with the SS was not there. Maybe next time.

Running like that you definitely have a good shot against an auto LS1. I wouldn't be suprised if he still got you, and he will be reeling you in up top, but you definitely have a fighting chance. -- Red 2002 Camaro Z28

Also, some headers and a cutout should get your mph up quite a bit and will only help you all the more when you use the nitrous. -- Red 2002 Camaro Z28

last saturday i raced from a light. on one side of me was a red lt1 trans am. on the other was a red ls1 trans am. in the middle was my red z. the other cars were both auto. the lt1 car had no chance. the ls1 car was closer, but he lost. that same night i raced a turbo miata with a roll cage. that wasn't even close. i haven't lost on the street yet. -- 96 Red Z28 6 Speed. 13.6 @ 101mph 1.9 60ft
