I sucked at drag day

11 passes before it rained and I wasn't happy with my driving or the weather. Out of the 11 passes, I missed shifts on 6 of them. I totally blew the launch on one. That left 4 runs that were without event. My best 60' was a horrible 2.00. My best run was only a 12.6x at only 114.9 mph. I realized at the end that I had the smallest plate on my borla without totally blocking it off. I think I may have picked up 1-2 mph but I never found out because once I opened it up I only ran twice more and missed shifts both times. Also, it was super humid and I think that may have hurt me even though the temps weren't horible (80 degrees or so). I have no clue as to why I couldn't launch it. I launched between 3000 and 4000 rpm and let the clutch out fast but didn't sidestep it. I bogged every run except for one where I launched at like 4500 rpms and spun horribly.
I guess I just have to practice alot until next time I go to the track. Also, we have a laong driveway and my dad said I could use it to practice 60' runs with my G-Tech Pro -- Red 2002 Camaro Z28 M6 with Hurst shifter, T-tops, Leather, 12 CD Changer; Ram Air Scoop, SLP Lid, K&N Filter, Smooth Bellow, Borla Exhaust, Dynatech Long Tube Headers, Off Road Pipes, BMR Adjustable Torque Arm, BMR Rear Lower Control Arms, Nitto Drag Radials, 3.73 gears, FAST 78mm TB, SPEC 3 Clutch, Pro 5.0 Shifter, ESP1 cam, Comp springs, TR Pushrods; Dyno: 420 RWHP, 374 RWTQ; best track time: 12.17 @ 117.9 mph, 2.05 60'

Sucks about the crappy conditions bro, but you and I both know that car has low 12's at the VERY least in it. I bet you can hit 11's with a bit of practice in your dads driveway. --

LOL, I figure I'll never hook in the driveway like I will at the track, but I just want to figure out the method for launching where I won't bog or spin. Once I figure it out in the driveway then I'll do the same at the track, I'll just up the rpms. -- Red 2002 Camaro Z28

LOL, yeah I was paying around with power shifting yesterday and I definitally think my shifting sucked at the track. I think missing shifts on my first 2 runs made me real leary about power shifting the rest of the day. I'm pretty sure that with some better shifting I could have knocked at least 2 tenths off my time. -- Red 2002 Camaro Z28

I have never tried to powershift, simply becuase I'm afraid of destroying something. I think I can shift pretty quick, so I don't think its slowing me down that much. However I don't know because I never go to a track. honestly buy some vht track prep stuff from your local performance shop, dillute it 50% rubbing alcohol 50% vht, I've this shit help cars dead hook on the middle of a bridge and lift the front tires off the ground and then on the next run without vht just spin like crazy.
it's the same shit the hose the track down with to help you hook. --

mikeyb2003, I understand that you're trying to give advice to help me be more consistent, but you're trying to compare a "pro" car to my daily driven street car. No offense, but I'll take my inconsistent car that I can have fun with everyday on the street over a much faster and more consistent car that I can only drive once in a while. -- Red 2002 Camaro Z28

As the car sits right now I just want an 11 second pass. If it was an auto then I'd probably be running deep 11's, but being a standard and having the stock 10-bolt rear, I'll be happy with my 11 second timeslip...even if I can only do it once for the time being.
