i live in virginia beach, and my neasrest 1/4 mile track has an elavation of 170 feet above sea level. Is this low elavtion in my favor, or is higher the elavtion, the better for your times? --

higher elevation = thinner air = slower cars
The closer to sea level the better. Which is why the jersey guys who run at englishtown and ATCO (both really close to sea level tracks) run awesome times. -- Dave

i think our tracks( jersey ppl) are between 0-100 feet if that elevation -- You can make any car fast with money but you cant make any car look or sound like it will tear your heart out, eat it and then bang your significant other.

It's weird that Englishtown is lower, because people seem to go faster at Atco. -- Red 2002 Camaro Z28

As i hear, Atco's track prep is really top notch, while englishtown doesn't really care. -- Dave

Atco may be comparably better then Englishtown as far as track prep goes, but Englishtown if much better then most tracks still. However, I was more talking about the mph differences between the two tracks. Maybe it's just me, but it seems like Atco always MPH's way better out of the two. ahhh...the legendary atco...lol. I've heard plenty stories about the track. Has anyone ever questioned the creditbility of the clocks. I mean if you think about it, if someones car always runs quicker at your track why wouldn't they wanna go there. Just add a couple mph on top of every run and that makes everyone like the track more. Idk, just a little idea i thought about, not saying it's fact. -- 94z28 13.0@109 (still tweaking) best 60ft:2.22

NPR here in southern Louisiana is 4ft above sea level and has AWESOME prep. -- 2005 GMC 1500HD 6.0L, dumped true duals - Flowmaster 50 series, 3.73's
One of these days I will buy a 4th gen and NOT run the miles up on it Like they say, 3rd time's a charm.

i've always wondered if it was a true 1320' because i hear of so many ridiculous times there. I run at one of the best tracks in the entire country, so i'm used to seeing and having better times than most other people, but there are definitely a lot of freakish times from Atco. they could be real, and they might not be.
i know my house is 26' above sea level but i wasn't sure on the track which is 6.5 miles away. They had an event last weekend and on the tv it was listed at 10' above sea level. --

i run at 5280 feet above sea level and run 14.6 or like 13.4 for you guys at sea level. so it affects it a lot. i always see you guys running faster than me and have the same mods. but i guess thats not bad for this high -- 96 Trans Am WS6 160 degree thermostat and k&n filter 3" cutout, hooker LT's, ORY Pipe, OBD1 conversion. over the valve cover wires.

"yeah look at my sig mph"
Yea, and that only creates that much more contravorsy about atco because your making 343 rwhp and trapping at 118mph. Unless your car weighs 2500 lbs or that dyno was done prior to adding more modifications. -- 94z28 13.0@109 (still tweaking) best 60ft:2.22

n/m you're weighing in at 3140 or around that. I'm not trying to start a flame war but all the quickest times i've seen out of fbody's have been from atco. I'm not talking a tenth or 1mph either. -- 94z28 13.0@109 (still tweaking) best 60ft:2.22 http://homepages.wmich.edu/~r3goode/shitbox10.html [ Edited on 04/17/2006 @ 22:32:58 ]

94 camaro z28 making 341rwhp 334 rwtq...weighs in at 3600 lbs. Which would be 200 more pounds then your weight when you ran the car. What's confusing is that he's only trapping at 112. et was 12.0. Very similar set to your with the true duals and suspension mods (1.7 60ft). I'll see if i can check the track elevation -- 94z28 13.0@109 (still tweaking) best 60ft:2.22

yea, i forgot about that. Well, I think this thread can officially die now. The amazing mph is largly due to his car being a manual car, low weight, insane track prep, low altitude, and a good driver mod. -- 94z28 13.0@109 (still tweaking) best 60ft:2.22
