Saleen says what?

Posted By: ChazGotAZ28 On: 03-17-2010 @ 02:48:58         Reply | Edit
I roasted a Saleen tonight, it was awesome. I'm coming home from work tonight and the Saleen turns on to the street I'm on. So we play around for a bit, revving our engines and tapping the gas until we get a clearing. So he points ahead and I nod to him. I wait for him to get on it at about 40 and as soon as he hit's it I nail it too. He pulled for about a half a second because he jumped it first but as soon as I put my foot down it was all over. I almost instantly pulled ahead by half a car and was already a full car by the end of second, I jammed her into 3rd and just walked like 2 more lengths. I shut down at around 85 and didn't really see how far I had pulled be it was quite a lot. We caught a light together, I told him that his car was cool and he said thanks but what the hell is under your hood man. I told him and he said badass, light changed to green and we went our seperate ways. Rack another one up for me.

P.S. did I spell "Saleen" right?

yeah u spelled it right.

what year(ish) was it and do you know if it was supercharged or not? they had different packages. the normal naturally aspirated one, the S-281 supercharged, the S-351 supercharged which was discontinued somewhere in the 99-04 years and then the S-281E which was more modded than the S-281.

i've come across quite a few but they were either way out of my league or they wouldn't play. the ones that were out of my league was when my car was stock and their's was not.

oh yeah, good kill.

Definitally good kill!

The 281's are rated 285 hp, and the S281's are rated 375hp. I'm not sure on the S351 (they stopped in 99), or the S281E, but those both have quite a bit more (maybe 425ish?).

I have a couple friends with Saleens. One is a 281 with a Vortech. I pull on him slightly from a roll (no point from a stop, he has no traction). My other friend has an S281 (375 hp) and a twin turbo 281 (437 rwhp, 536 rwtq). I can't seem to get him to race me with either. I really want to try the TT from a stop

I'm not sure what package it was but if I had to guess I would say it was the 281, there was no whine so I know that the car wasn't S/C'ed, and it was the 99-04 body style. Besides with how much I pulled him, there is no way he was running any type of forced induction.

Yeah I gotta say minus the Ferrari I beat, taking out Mustangs are my favorite kills. This Saleen looked good to and sounded mean as hell. Although that seems to be the case with a lot of Mustangs, they sound badass but usually don't have the bite to back up the bark.

sometimes, but i've run across some BBBBAAAADDDDDD mustangs here in texas. i really like saleens, especially modded ones. the new ones are crapping out so far, and even if the supercharged ones turn out decent the prices are just ridiculous.

The new Saleen kicks A$$ in my opinion, I think it looks outstanding with the body kit and wheels, and I think the SC one is rated for 500hp? I wasn't a big fan of the new style til I saw what Saleen did to it, although its not exactly cheap at >50K. By the way theres a 2000 S-351 for sale on ebay dynoed at 508rwhp!

I didn't think they made 351 Saleen's after 1999.

I personally don't care for the new Saleens. I'd go for a 1999-2004 any day before a new one (especially for the price).

Good kill dude! At least he was cool about it too. It's always sweet when the other guy acknowledges that you have a sweet car instead of just getting p**sed off.

LOL, we raced this guy once with a 1988ish Mustang GT. He was pretty cool until like 3 of us beat him and then he got pissed and left. LOL
