Awesome night of racing.

Met up with a few people tonight and we all went out for some racing fun. Here are the cars and my previous experiences with them.
My 2002 Z28, info in sig.
Around a 1990 notchback stang. Heads, cam, bolt-ons, carb, ET streets, skinnies, 200 shot of nitrous (bottle was empty tonight), 5-speed, etc. Dynoed 294 on motor, and said he tuned it better now and thinks it's around 310 now. I raced him from a roll a couple months ago (all motor) and he pulled about a car on me.
1987ish Regal. Carb 383, Performer RPM heads, custom cam, ET streets, all supporting bolt-ons. Ran a 12.2 @ 110mph at the track.
1998 Z28. A4, 2.73 gears, LT headers, cat-back, lid, cam, Nitto drag radials. Made 359rwhp. I raced him before the cam and headers. Back then his car made 290's for power and ran a 13.4 @ 105mph. When we raced last time he killed me off the line and then I started catching him fast. I pulled even with him at about the 1/4 mile mark and then blew past. From a roll I missed a shift and still beat him bad.
For the racing tonight we went to a great spot and had a dude to flag a couple of them.
First up, the Mustang raced the 1998 Z28. I didn't see it but it was from a stop and the Mustang beat the Z28 pretty bad.
Second, I raced the Regal. We went from a 5-10mph roll. The regal pulled hard down low and then continued to pull away from me slowly. I'd say he had me by about 2 to 2-1/2 cars by 105mph.
Third, the Mustang raced the Regal. This was shaping up to be the race everyone was waiting to see. They lined up and the guy flagged them (we were able to watch from on a bridge that also crossed the finish line marker). The mustang crossed the finish about 2-3 cars ahead. We were honestly very suprised by the outcome, but the guy in the regal said he spun bad off the line. The flagger comfirmed that he did, but oh well, that's part of street racing.
For the last race everyone wanted to see the 2 Camaros run. I figured I'd get killed since I barely caught him before (from a stop) and now he has 65 more hp to the ground. We lined up and ended up going from a 3-5mph roll. We both hit it and I started pulling almost right away. I shifted into second and went sideways. I had to back off for a second and then punched it again and continued to pull away. The people watching said I was 2-3 cars in front of him. I was very suprised by that race. Everyone there was able to verify that the 98 did make 359hp to the wheels. He had his daughter with him and I was alone, he had a bad exhaust rattle (maybe a piece of the cat broke apart and got stuck in the muffler) that might have cost him some hp. Either way, I smoked him and was very pleased (the guys there were very happy I beat him too cause he was kind of a weird guy). He challenged me earlier tonight and tried to hid the fact that he just got a cam (told me had got headers and wanted to test them against me) but one of my friends knew he just had the cam installed and called him out about it and he said he did have it.
Overall it was a great night of racing. All the guys were awesome and I hope to hang out with them much more in the future.
On a side note, BlackScreaminMachine is supposed to race the Mustang tomorrow if we can get his car fixed in time. Should be a good race motor to motor. If the dude fills his bottle, then they'll probably make one run with that too just to see how bad it is. Should be fun! -- Red 2002 Camaro Z28

On another side note. Black Screamin Machine was so freaking tired, they he did not go out last night to the pike and missed probably the social event of the season. Also he had stated that is pretty much what would have happened if I didnt go out. BSM is glad he predicted that.

Also, I messed around with the Regal on the way to the race and it seems VERY close from a highway roll. Time for me to start those bottom end mods. -- Red 2002 Camaro Z28

Well, we got everything fixed on BSM's car and set up the race. It was shaping up to be a good matchup, and that's when it all went bad.
They lined up, BSM did a small burnout, and the dude with the stang did a quick spin to clean his slicks. They lined up and the dude flagged them. The stang hooked and went and BSM blew the tires off. Then his car hit the stall wall and got stuck in 3rd gear (I believe it was third). The race was over the second he blew the launch, but the stall wall problem just added insult to injury.
That mustang is NASTY on the street. I've never seen it lose a race and have only heard of it losing once to a turbo stang, but at the time he didn't have the slicks.
Hopefully BSM will get the stall problem fixed and will be able to get some MT Drag Radials and then we'll try and set up another race with the stang. The dude was real cool, so I don't think that will be a problem.
Oh well, anything can happen in a street race, that's the way it goes.
Aaron, feel free to add anything or correct anything, since you had a better view of the race. -- Red 2002 Camaro Z28

Nope, thats pretty much what had happend. Got stuck in 3rd, since This car makes more power and my puny 2,500 stall hit the wall. BUt we are on the way to fix that asap. Emailed Bryan last night and I am calling jegs this morning. -- '94 Black Z28, 383 LT1 Breaking 11's SOON!

However, even if the car hadn't hit the stall wall, the race was over when the tires went up in smoke. That's what the MT radials are for...you'll get him next time -- Red 2002 Camaro Z28
