Got challenged by a VW Gulf

Posted By: RedScreaminMachine On: 03-12-2010 @ 23:16:01         Reply | Edit
BSM and I were cruising today and were just about to turn off the main strip when this newer turbo VW Gulf pulls next to me and says he wants to run it and see if he can hang. I say sure, and yell up to Aaron that we're gonna stay on the strip and race this dude.

Aaron and him line up and run it and Aaron beats him and then turns off. I lined up at a light with the VW and he said he wants to go from a 2nd gear roll, cause I'll kill him in first. I say no problem cause then traction won't be a problem for me. We roll out and at about 30-35mph he says on three. He counts down and then we both hit it. I immediatly started pulling on him and stopped racing just after hitting 4th gear (a little over 100mph). I must have been at least 5-6 cars ahead of him by the end. We got another light and he was like "Holy S#it!" He asked what I had done and I told him. He had a chip and exhaust or something, don't really remember. He asked how much hp I had and I told him. Then a guy who was on a bike behind us (some Harley or Honda-Harley look a like) pulled up and asked how much power my car made. Turns out he was trying to stay on my ass during the race and couldn't keep up, LOL.

It was a fun race and the dude in the VW was very cool. He said he new he wouldn't win but wanted to know how he would hang, which turned out to be not very well, lol.

Yea, I didnt even bother bringing it up to 100 mph, we were on the pike which is automatic heat from the cops. I didnt even want to really race but what the hey. When I punched it I was out of my power band but it picked up quick. So he hung for about a second then it was over.

if it was the 1.8T... then those things are dogs. was in a A4 with the same engine and "the chip" and intake. couldnt even put me in my seat. nice smooth engine though. but also decently quick for a 1.8L.

1.8 < 5.7 even with a turbo

yea, but everything from a roll is a weight to hp ratio.

If you're racing in the rain or snow and aren't driving a rally car, then you deserve to crash and live so you can think about what you did.
