Funny 5.0 story

So me and my friend were on the way back from Va Beach (on I64, going 60 or so) one day (a little while ago) when this guy in this 5.0 pulled up beside me (had an exhaust and CAI, that's it I think) with his girl in the passenger seat and revved his little stang. I downshifted and counted 3 off. Not knowing what to expect (sleeper maybe?), I hit it full throttle and left him behind by at least 10 car lengths by 110. That point, I shut down and just wanting to exchange a thumbs up with the dude, let him catch up. So as he got close (about a car and a half behind), he downshifted and went at it again. Well, I was in 5th going 50, but i just stomp on it without downshifting. By the time I hit 65 (he having about 20 mph jump on me) was even with my door and by 85, a car length behind. Well, apparently, bound and deterimined to win, he pulls off my exit (surely, my kills had to be due to the fact that it was a rolling start) and the first light we get to (didn't have to worry about being the first ones there, we were the only ones on the road at 2am), he rolls down the window and says something about luck and him winning. I couldn't hear because he was revving his engine at the same time. Well green light and a little chirp, I'm off and he's well behind me by 65 where I call it done. Funny how he kept thinking he could win it. -- 1995 Firehawk, car #157... Stock, 315hp, but with K&N air filter and gutted cat convertor. Looking to make minor changes in the next year.

Now that i think about it, your right. My fault, I WAS in 4th, because I shut down before I hit 5th (right before 110). I never even have it (even when just cruising) in 5th at 50. 5.0s are fun to go against, but they can get real quick, so you gotta be careful... -- 1995 Firehawk, car #157...
