Cops called on me

same trip down to college i approach a 99+ stang GT convert with a father, son, and mother (i assume) with their top down. i was going a little faster then them so when i got up to them the guy hits the gas quick. so i ignore it and then his wife starts "rowing a boat" or something with her hands. i didnt know what to do with that but i assumed it meant that my car was slow and he was the king of the road . well lucky enough we get into one of the towns along the highway (outskirts of town) and we get the light. this is the perfect stretch of road ever. flat, about 10 miles long before any hill or turn, open, and no places for cops to hide. well he revs at me and i naturally rev back. said something about how he likes my license plate (custom one). and light goes green, i left him FAR behind. i stopped at about 65 (the speed limit) and thought nothing of it. well i get to the next town and there always seems to be a cop there. well my radar detector goes off mildly and i cant see the cop anywhere (he hid well). i was going 60 in a 55 on that stretch so i slow down to maybe 57 or 58 not even caring or thinking about the cop which i just found cuz i was telling a story to my friend in the car. well i natually look back to see if he is coming after me being a pesimist. well he is taking his time but he is coming to get someone. figured it was the subaru that passed me up doing at least 5 over. well he speeds up and then switchs to my lane, flips on the cherries and slows down. F&CK!! so i stop, he comes up and says "i heard you were racing down in the other town... someone called in". i denied it saying i was passing the guy up. then he proceeds to be a dick and say that i was going 4 over when he gunned me. also said that the license plate cover i had was illegal (since when??) and that my radar detector was illegal (since when??). i told him that hte radar decetor was not illegal. he then said "yeah i know, i meant that you cant have it hanging from your window". i say ok and ask 'where can i put it then". he goes "umm, well... uhh... there really isnt any place you can put it" . so anyway he goes back to his impala, writes me a warning for the license plate cover and then gives me a sitation for "obsruction of view". i gotta go to court i think for it, or at least i want to. how easy is this to get off my record and how much would it cost? chances they dont make me pay it? can i put the dang thing on my dash instead of the window? anyway, that was a shitty start to a great night (lots of parties). --

I'm pretty sure that anything over or around your rear plate is illegal. Usually they won't say anything about it though unless they feel like being a dick. -- Red 2002 Camaro Z28

i personally think it makes the rear end look better (blue cover). it's not like it's a smoked out one or one of those that dont allow people to see through it. will they get me if i keep the chrome frame around it still? --

my friend got pulled over for a necklace hanging from his mirror. the cop said its a distraction of view so the cop could of said that about the radar detector to be a lil bitch. for that necklace on his mirror my freind got 4 tickets non moving violations thou. the necklace, no front plate, loud exhuast, no belts. some cops are dicks and just got nothing to do so they write bull$hit tickets out, they should be slapped -- 97 Trans Am A4 (temporarily broken )

I think that technically you can't have a frame around the rear plate either, but it would probably not be a problem around the front plate.

the seat belt law is rediculous.
If i choose not to wear my seatbelt thats my decsion not the state.
i have my front plate in my windshield, its then up to cop to give me a ticket for it.
as for loud exhaust you can fight that.In court, say it passed inspection the last 2 times w/ the exhaust on there. and ask what the cops descretion was for giving out that ticket. did he have a Db meter?? It works ive gotten out of this ticket b4
