on my way to college for the night i was taking a left onto a highway when i hear this roar and a LS1 formy coming up on me. well he revs and so i rev. we both take the turn. being that i was in front i coulda been a little bitch and hit it before he had the chance to get around the corner and yeah, claimed "the win" cuz he wouldnt have caught up (well maybe about 140+ he would). i waited for him to get beside me and we were doing about a 23 mph roll. 3 honks and we go. since that is a good place where i make almost instant boost i didnt have the excuse to say i wasnt "ready". well first gear he got maybe 1 foot on me and SLOWLY pulling. 2nd gear i stopped his pull and gained that foot back and maybe 6" (this is a REAL close race and we are almost going 80 alread). 3rd gear is too long from 2nd gear for me and so the beginning of 3rd he gained maybe 3 feet on me and by the end of 3rd (aproaching 130) he was gaining and had his rear end at my front bumper (damn AWD up top and damn LS1 power up top) . well so i lost, but i had to know what he had done. so we hit a stoplight about a mile down the road and he says he had full intake a full exhaust (dont know any details). and then we went our seperate ways. looks like it's time for exhaust work --

you run 13's and an LS1 w/ intake / exhaust got you? I think he may have had something else, but you never know those ls1's do pull hard up top, like you said. From a stop youd rape him w/ the awd.

TT stealth = BAD top end
LS1 fbody = GREAT top end
he was in his domain, i was far out of mine... i am suprised he didnt walk me more then he did.
when he said mods he specified FULL exhaust and FULL intake... so i would assume headers back and TB forward would be more then enough to keep me at bay.
look at RSM... basically intake and exhaust mods... 344 rwhp. i have to hit 400 flywheel horses to make 300 awhp (about 25% loss)... not only that but im sure i had a few pounds on his car (3600 vs 3800)... so like i siad... i dont know why he didnt walk me more then he did cuz im probably at about the 275 to 280 AWHP.
sad thing is i will have to get new turbos to easily, safely, and cheapestly hit 350 wheel hp. turbos dont cost a lot... $500 to $600 for each turbo. but in order to use it i need fuel mods (pump and injectors). so...
$600 for full exhaust = 300 awhp $1000 turbos + $700 fuel = 350 awhp (actually i wouldnt waste my time going for just 350... they would be decent turbos and 420 to 440 awhp wouldnt be hard to hit)
so roughly $2300 to go before i can beat moderatly modded LS1's from a roll.
EDIT: forgot that i would need a new clutch ($450) and would probably break my bottom end if i was making 440 awhp... so i guess that'll never happen for a while. maybe i just need to do weight removal mods --

no offense man but either ur car runs awesome or his is running like shit. i raced a vr4 down the highway from about a 45 mph roll, this was b4 my headers and y-yipe. we went on 3 honks and started about dead even. by the time i hit 3rd i was 2-3 cars in fron of him and by the end of 4th i was an easy 5-6 and i never stopped pulling. we did this about 3 times then we both had a lil talk cruisin down the highway with our windows down. i told him good race he said the same then went our separt ways -- R.I.P. 1999 WS-6 trans-am, moser 12 bolt 4.11's, eaton posi, 33 spline axles, lightened flywheel, spec stage 4 clutch, slp lid, 80 mm TB , 80 mm maf, hurst short throw shifter, slp loud mouth, 160 thermostat,Lca's,panhard arm, flowtech coated LT's and y-pipe,

Actually, all you need to beat LS1's are a boost controller and boost set to 14.5 psi. Then some exhaust work always helps. That's on stock turbos.
BTW, fuel mods don't cost that much. I believe I paid like 500 TOPS for all my injectors and pump. sounds about right. Those pontiac's are pretty mutch dogs unless a punk bitch sinks about 10grand into it. I'd have put 3 or 4 cars on ya with just a k&n filter. By 140 you'd have been a speck in my rearview mirror. -- 2000SS arctic white
