We went to pontiac day yesterday at Englishtown. Even though we both did badly it was a real fun day. There were TONS of 2004-2005 GTO's and a ton of Firebirds and TA's there, along with alot of older pontiac mucsle.
I couldn't come close to my best ever (in sig).
My best yesterday was as follows:
60'...2.352
330'..6.644
1/8...10.234
mph...69.06
1000'.13.302
1/4...15.884
mph...86.07
I honestly don't know why I ran so slow. It wasn't overly warm and I was getting consistent 60's around where I normally do with the car. I know the air filter was very dirty, so maybe the fuel filter is too. I'll tune it up a bit and see if that helps at all.
My dad was disappointed in hir runs due to wheel hop. He said he never expected it to be so violent. His best run was a 14.499 @ 100.7mph with a 2.4 60'. He was talking to a few of the other new GTO owners and has a few ideas for next time Also, he's gonna go on LS1GTO.com and get some ideas for improving on the 60' time. He said it even wheelhopped violently when shifting into 2nd gear.
There were a bunch of others running also.
One guy with a stock 6-speed got a 13.9 @ 103mph. Most of the Autos were low 14's to high 13's (and the auto guys didn't seem to suffer from wheel hop). One guy with a modded auto showed us his best timeslip stock. He got a 13.5 @ 101 all stock down to tires and air filter.
There was a 2004 auto with a cam, drag radials, 2800 stall, and cold air that was running 13.1's @ 103mph. Another with a cam, headers, exhaust, cold air, stall, and drag radials was running 12.3's @ 110mph.
There were definitally some very nice and very fast cars there and we both had a great time!

Like I said, I have no explaination as to why my car was so slow. I guess I'll tune it up and see what happens. -- Red 2002 Camaro Z28

Yeah, I think the problem was definitally with the car and not the track. I can tell you that the starting line was definitally much better than it's been any time I've taken my Grand Prix up to Lebanon.
Also, after going on LS1GTO.com it doesn't look like anyone's figured out a cure for the GTO wheel hop issue. Hotrod has one though and they are going to tackle that next, so we'll just cross our fingures that they come up with a solution. -- Red 2002 Camaro Z28

its good, but it should be better for E-town weather than the 15.5 at lebenon, about 2 tenths better. RSM pulled his air filter (it was dirty) and gained a half second. sooooo there stuff that needs to be done -- '94 Black Z28, 383 LT1 Breaking 11's SOON!

Yeah, I wasn't even close to my 15.58 @ 87.3 that I got previously. There was another Grand Prix GT there running low 16's, but I've never run a 16 except for one run where I spun real bad and got a 2.7 60' and ran like a low 17. I think the car is faster though, I've read about stock 3.8 f-bodies running low 15's @ 90mph. I think my car is capable of a 15.4 @ 88 on a good day (when running properly). Also, it weighed in at 3575 lbs with me in it. -- Black 1993 Trans Am, A4, 3.23 gears

Yea, I ran a 15.20's on lid and exhaust with 3.23s and no posi with my 3.8, and I know the GP's can be made quick with relatively few mods -- 2001 Firebird 3.8 5spd:

Yeah, I think the supercharger off of a 1994-1995 Bonneville will fit on my car, so I might start scouring the junk yards... -- Blue 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix GT
