Bentley Continental GT vs LS1 Z28

Posted By: Silver02Z28 On: 03-18-2010 @ 01:37:50         Reply | Edit
My boss has a new Bentley Continental GT. We were both driving to a meeting and I was following him in my 02 Z28. I got next to him at a light with no traffic ahead. He rolled down his window and asked if my car was fast off the line. I told him that it was hard to launch so he would win. I know he loves to drive fast, and I new he wanted to race me. The light turned and he got a jump. That beast makes 552 hp and has AWD. He got about 1/2 car but by the time I nailed third, I had him by a 1/2. I ended up about a car ahead of him when we shut down at about 80 or so. I have a DIY rear mount turbo with low boost.

heavy yes, but with the 4wd the power is really usable, I rode in one a few months back and it was amazing how easy it was to go fast, the driver doesn't need to do anything but steer

you have been beating lots of awesome cars on a stock 02 with only like 2-3psi of boost on a rear mount system non intercooled. just kinda strange to me. if your car is stock with only 2-3 psi, i doubt you have more than 15-23% power increase. so 300 stock hp x 1.15 = 345rwhp 300x1.23=369rwhp. not quite a giant killer that it may take to outrun some of the cars you have mentioned beating before. not flaming, just curious about your other mods.

its cool to have even seen one of those cars, arent their production numbers pretty limited, and arent they hard to get? your boss must make some serious cash if he's pimping one of those around town.

edit- read your webpage a little. 113mph trap on a basically stock LS1 with some free mods is awesome. again not trying to flame, just curious about time/power you are making. good kill

AbadSS: When I posted my 12.8@113 timeslip here last year with a hood, lid and free mods I did get flamed hard. Nobody beleived me, but that's what I ran. I'm not sure what rwhp I'm at right now, but like you said, with the low boost the gain is moderate. I'm probably in the mid 12's at that level of boost.

My boss made money in sports equipment. He has millions. He now owns the company that I work for. He has had many nice cars (360 Modena, Porsche Turbo, Ferrari 456M, Shelby Cobra etc).

The track that you ran a 12.8 that is probably the biggest cheater track in the U.S. my buddy's 94 6 spd z bone stock with a cold air ran a 13.6@103

Posted By: Silver02Z28 On: 04-09-2005 @ 13:22:54     Reply | Top | Edit
It took me about a year before I ran my 12.8 I started at 13.7@108 and worked my way down at that track. I hardly think Carlsbad was a "cheater track". It was hard to hook and very bumpy. I remember 03 Cobra's running mid 13's there. There were other Z28's running mid 13's also the day I ran my 12.8.

Here's some data to back me up:
00Z28 13.7 at Carlsbad
http://www.geocities.com/crazymaler/camaro/camaro.htm

An article where an 04 GTO ran mid 13's at Carlsbad. That's just about right for an 04 LS1 GTO isn't it?

naw his busa just doenst top out at 190+ like the bently does, and from what i understand they are very drivable there. its on a streight strectch that is like 15-20 miles long with almost no room for a cop to hide, lots of people go real fast there, and the car just kept pulling.

id have to ask him, if it was geared down and the way i look at it if some one can spend 150k on a car then they can spend a few more thousand to upgrade the turbo's and on top of that the bently had a running start and was already doing well over twice the speed of the bike, so him not catching up when he saw he was loosing that could be it, he has told me that he toped his bike out at 18X so he could be geared down it would make sense but the fact remains that he lost to the bently (wasnt realy a real race but all the same)

So if I blow past a jet taxing down a runway then I can boast that I raced and beat a jet plane? I don't think so.

TandA dont be a dumb ass, if a car blows by you on a bike doing an honest 190+ then you take off after it, how quick do you think you could catch it? its going to take you time to match its speed on a bike say its gona take you a good 30 seconds to get up to 200 mph at least (i dont know much about bikes and could care less so roughly) at roughly 190 it will do over a mile and a half (or roughly a half a mile more than you) in that amount of time, to make up that distance at maby a 15-20 mph difference is going to take you another min, at least to make up. thats simple physics, now how many people race for more than a min and a half? not many people i know, so inessence the bike lost as it was behind the bently from beggining to end, ( in retrospect it was not realy a race since the bently seemed to be more toping out his car than racing a kid on a bike) but all the same he explained it as a lost race so thats how i portrayed it here so if you want to debate this further, dont try to discredit me here take it up with me on aim or STFU.
