<comments>Hello and Welcome to Fbody.com, a great place for basic and in depth knowledge on most years of the Fbody platform.

Please take the time to read the FAQ thread located at the top of the page, there are some smileys and advice on how to make a signature.

Also notice there is a search feature that works great on this site, better than other F-body sites for sure.

If you have a question please make sure you post it in the correct forum, ie. can t find it with a reasonable search. Odds are, there</comments>

<title>Clutch Fork Groove?</title>
<link>http://www.fbody.com/cgi-bin/lt1/read.cgi?msgid=298918</link>
<comments>Hey guys,

I replaced my clutch about 2 years ago (Spec Stage 2). When I replaced it, I noticed the clutch fork had a groove worn into it about halfway up.

What would cause this? From what I could tell, there were no moving parts in this area that could have done this...

Also, my clutch is no longer disengaging (it is constantly engaged- I can t want to spend another $500 on a clutch.

<comments>I will post the A.G. section as well.

Can you knowledgeable engine peeps answer a couple questions please?

1. How much variation if any is permissible between the bore diameters of cylinders?

2. What is the maximum, minimum and optimum clearance between piston and cylinder bore?

Engine is a 383 LT 1.

And before you guys suggest a competent engine builder, read this!

<title>Fuel Pump Question</title>
<link>http://www.fbody.com/cgi-bin/lt1/read.cgi?msgid=298912</link>
<comments>Hey guys, it ve been on here.

My fuel pump went out on my 95 Z28 and I am looking to replace it with a 255 lph high pressure pump.

My question is this: will this by itself increase performance any? This is a daily driver, will the higher output fuel pump affect gas mileage at all?

Thanks,
Chris

<title>Transmissions?</title>
<link>http://www.fbody.com/cgi-bin/lt1/read.cgi?msgid=298653</link>
<comments>I picked up a 94 trans am LT1 with 14k on the motor and a bad trans for $1500. I flushed the fluid and replaced the pan gasket and filter and she s still slipping. I work at a pontiac dealership in the shop and I could get a GM tranny under warranty for $1500. Are there any other options out there that might work out better for me?</comments>

<title>LT 1 Advice</title>
<link>http://www.fbody.com/cgi-bin/lt1/read.cgi?msgid=298728</link>
<comments>I also posted this over in AG.

I am toying with the Idea of not selling my car.

I am considering dropping the engine and adding some more ponies to it, but still keep it sorta streetable. i always had this dream of a car that could pull the front end, and doing it infront of a cop just to see his reaction, yea I am serious.
I want to keep it all natural so no NOS or Forced Induction. Engine specs are below, what would you serious HP guys suggest?

<title>Another LT1 Boost Results thread</title>
<link>http://www.fbody.com/cgi-bin/lt1/read.cgi?msgid=298813</link>
<comments>Previously, one of my customers had dynoed his 96Z28 with the following mods:

355ci 8.8:1
Ported stock castings
BRE turbo cam
LT1Boost Log Manifold Kit w/TC76
M6 Tranny and 4.10 s as it sits w/14psi. His 108mph 1/8th showed he had the potential to go 136-138mph in the 1/4 if he finished the run. Video below:

<title>Intake mods???</title>
<link>http://www.fbody.com/cgi-bin/lt1/read.cgi?msgid=298817</link>
<comments>I was looking at a spare LT1 intake I have was amazed how mismatched the ports are to the gaskets. Would matching the ports to the gaskets and polishing the runners make a big difference?
Judging from the amount of metal removed, it would appear so?????</comments>
