What I want to know, is what backspacing on a 17x10 rim will give me the same track width (or just a smidgen more) as the stock wheels? i am prepared to start cutting, and moving things that are in the way. i just want the tire to tuck ever so slightly without any </comments>

<title>Replacing my gas tank...</title>
<link>http://www.fbody.com/cgi-bin/3gen/read.cgi?msgid=74660</link>
<comments>Hi All!
Is it true that these cars have a one piece gas tank?
The filler neck opening where the gas cap screws in has been ovalled, and my cap is not sealing, so when I fill up, I get splash out coming back up and out and down the side of the car.

I have a line on a new (used) gas tank, but just wanted to make sure that they are one piece.

Also, I have been told that to replace the tank you need to drop the rear axle?? Is this true??
If so, who thought of this bright design??

<title>DIMMED DIGITAL DASH HELP?</title>
<link>http://www.fbody.com/cgi-bin/3gen/read.cgi?msgid=74589</link>
<comments>Hi All!
I have an 87 Trans Am GTA with the digital dash and the odometer display has dimmed right down. All other displays are working fine (the tach, the speedo, the gauges and the control center) but the odometer display is not. I can see it but it is very dim... is this an easy fix?? (Like maybe replacing a light bulb...)
Any help would be appreciated!

<link>http://www.fbody.com/cgi-bin/3gen/read.cgi?msgid=74670</link>
<comments>Warning: This is a long, sometimes rambling, post of my plans for the IROC.

I figured up how much it would cost me to replace the bushings, springs, shocks, and struts on my IROC. The springs were drop springs, I really wanted to install stock height springs. The car is low enough. Anyway, all that ended up being about 450 bucks. I didn ll feel good about driving it on the street.

<link>http://www.fbody.com/cgi-bin/3gen/read.cgi?msgid=74565</link>
<comments>I have the motor and transmission out of the POS TA and tomorrow I ll start pulling the motor out of the Formula. So after a few years, this thing is going to be moving again.

So a quick question, is it quicker to pull the engine and trans or just the trans. Is it really that hard to get to the upper and mid bolts on the back of the engine?

Should i go at them from the top? Bottom, or with a lot of extensions from the rear?

Advise. Jon, Jeremey.

The filter box thing doesnt count as he states it

<link>http://www.fbody.com/cgi-bin/3gen/read.cgi?msgid=74575</link>
<comments>Ok, there are dozens of reasons people swap steering components. I really dont care what theirs are, heres why I did it

Pros:
Weight, the stock center link and tie rods weigh as much as the whole rack. The box and PS pump total just over 50 lbs I dont need
Manual, I dumped the PS pump so I needed something manual and a S10 box would just mean Im lazy
Space, this fits tight under the balancer out of the way of everything when I lay the radiator back
Cost, this was off a Fiero I scrapped bu</comments>

<comments>Hey guys gotta problem again with the car. Engine started to run like there was a miss to it when it gets heated up. I shut the car off and it runs fine when i start it back up. Also it started to back fire after i accelerated rapedly and let off throttle. I started to run a little diagnosis and found that the engine started to run smoother when I disconnect the #2 Injector and stopped back firing.
So the next thing that I looked into was if it had the right injector in the #2 spot(which it</comments>

<title>Does this really works?</title>
<link>http://www.fbody.com/cgi-bin/3gen/read.cgi?msgid=74487</link>
<comments>Hello, I have a Formula with a 350 and LT1 intake, among other things. However, I made my own CAI with a flexible corrugated tube and a cone filter. I think it works but I think it is pulling too hot air in. Besides it s not the best looking. I saw this on ebay and it definitely looks better than mine, plus it pulls colder air. Any opinions? Thanks
