right now i have an 07 GMC crew cab, black, loaded, few add ons, 22" chrome wheels with a 5 year, 100k mile warranty. i was just killing time and ran across an 05 escalade, black, loaded! chrome 22" wheels. it has 40K on the odometer, and doesnt have a warranty, but i can get a warranty if i choose to. the eskie has a few minor cosmetic blemishes, but nothing major. they were asking 20k for it, but i got them down to 18k now, and they are offering me 20k on trade for my truck. what should i look for with the escalade? ive never had any problems with my gmc. i asked them if i could keep my wheels, and they put the ones on the eskie on the truck im trading when i make the deal, they said that was fine. im really looking to get a lower payment. so my truck gets paid off, and i get an escalade for an 05 escalade for under 18k. any thoughts? -- img

What ever happened with joining the marines?
I would just keep the truck you have now, maybe get something a little more economical if you are looking to get something new, a single dude with a crew cab truck or an escalade? If you join the marine that will eat up most of your money every month as a lower enlisted dude. --

Why not buy a normal ride so you can have a super nice amount of debt while you are gone? And have a super nice savings account when you get back? --

so you're getting a people hauler (for your large family...?? ) because you dont need a truck to tow stuff? I still dont see any logic in this --

and alot poorer than you realize. Dudes that are lower enlisted and have a nice truck, can't afford gas to drive it anywhere. --

Either way, take the 22's off the crew cab, it's a truck not a gangsta mobile.
Also realize, you're gonna be making maybe 1200 a month as a lower enlisted marine. So say you have a $400 truck payment+ a $200 bike payment + a $100 insurance payment. That only leaves you with $500 a month for gas and beer and tobacco a month. Dump the truck dude. Hell you don't even need a car, you can always mooch rides with your buddies from the barracks. --

Have you checked with insurance on an escalade? I was going to buy one when I was shopping for my truck because I ran across one cheap. I got a quote from my insurance company and it was almost triple of what my truck is that I bought.
