White trash FTLOL

Posted By: 2piececrank On: 07-04-2008 @ 00:10:12         Reply | Edit
Normally I hate holidays. I get a bunch of non-drinkers coming in and holding things up and asking stupid ass questions. Today was no different, but one thing really made up for it.

A group of people pull up in a beat-up, blue Celebrity wagon (I think). The woman driving pulls up on top of the bump stop and gets stuck. She manages to back up enough to get off of it, but did some damage to the car in the process. Her husband gets out of the back seat to come in and buy his Domestic-Abuse Ice (Natty Ice).

While he is waiting in the long line, his wife starts going absolutely insane. She is yelling and cursing her lungs out. The next guy to stroll through the door is a regular customer who sings "It's a white trash weekend" as he walks through.

The WT guy turns back and yells "Those are my white trash! They might be white trash, but they was raised right! I don't give a fuck how big you are, I can still kick your ass!" Now this guy is maybe 5'7 if we stretch him and fairly tanked already. Singing guy runs about 6'5 and is pretty big, so I was waiting for a showdown. The big guy backed down saying he didn't want any trouble and the WT guy took his beer and went back to the car where his wife was still yelling (closing in on 8 or so minutes straight).

As they are pulling away, I can hear him yell at her "Would you shut the fuck up so I can drink my beer!" as they pull out of the parking lot. It made my day a lot better seeing that. Just thought I would share.

Neither. PA is run differently for alcohol sales than almost every other state. We have beer distributors and bars to sell beer, grocery stores and gas stations can't get the LCB license.

I've seen a few scenes like that at the closest liquor store to me. That's why after 8 PM I'll drive the extra 15 minutes to the next one.

Thats messed up. In Louisiana, every corner store, gas station, and grocery store sells liquor and beer.

Louisiana and almost every other state. As I recall, there is only one other state with liquor laws like PA. It comes from the bar/ distributor lobby being so big, even if disorganized, here.

PA is a heavy drinking state. There are bars all over the place here and not much else to do on the weekends (unless you have a life or some shit like that), so people drink. My distributor does really well, especially given our size restriction, but I would wager that the average size distributors do between $650k and $1.25M a year in sales depending on location in this area. Considering that I live in jogging distance of 3 distributors and probably 5-6 bars should say something (I don't live in the city either).

Jumper, this was a pretty isolated incident, but given the nature of the business, probably all too common in certain areas. That is why I ALWAYS have my gun on me at work and often don't cover it. I don't want to intimidate anyone, but I would like to deter them.

Here in NC you can get wine and beer at the grocery stores and convenient marts, but only the ABC store has liquor, unless you go to a bar.

i hate being home in PA. I have to drive at least 10 minutes to get to a distributor. most of them are undersupplied, basic domestic beers....

Back in Ohio I have 3 drive through beer stores within 1 or 2 minutes. not to mention every gas station, walmart, and the 2 big liquor stores. Even the gas stations have an equal, if not better selection than the distributors here in PA....

I love white trash though. I see a lot of that stuff at the beer stores in Ohio.

Here in MN the only way to get beer or liquor is the "Liquor store" Grocery stores and gas stations only have %3.2 beer or wine coolers.

Steve, get them to order it for you (or your mom as the case may be). Most places will if you pay up front or are well known enough. Trust me, I would love to sell nothing but microbrews all day, but people want their Bud Light. Have to stock what sells, no matter how bad it is.

Hey, I would be one of those non-drinkers who comes in and asks stupid questions. I did that on the 4th. Haha, I'm that idiot! All the distributors in my area are hidden and tough to find, and every time I've been in any of them it's been a decent crowd, despite the fact that they're all run down. It helps that I'm in a really yuppie area.

There is a difference between not knowing about the distributor and being a total dumbass.

I get things like:
-Asking my what every beer tastes like.
-Complaining that I don't know what every beer tastes like.
-Asking why there is a price difference between regional beers in PA and FL
-Watching me walk into a "magic" door and come out with beer, then asking if we have a cooler.
-Asking if we sell cold beer despite all the signs saying cold beer.
-Asking when such and such a law changed that has been in effect for many years (distributor/bar sales for instance).
-Letting me carry your beer out to your car, in a thunderstorm, but not unlocking it until you feel ready to come out. (I will drop a case outside and let the customer deal with it if the car is locked.)

There is a ton more stupid shit I see all the time that people do. I don't have a problem with asking questions or not knowing everything, but at least be reasonable about it.

ohio sucks compared to IN

yeah, you can get beer just about anywhere, but only beer, no liqour.

IN you can get liqour at grocery stores and stuff too, they don't sell it at most gas stations, but at least around me, grocery stores are just as close as gas stations
