Free long distance, anyone have any info on it?
We dropped our long distance trying to cut corners. Andy just found this dealie (magicjack $40.00) that you hook to your computer & your phone. Then you can make long distance USA/Canada calls for $19.99 a year after you buy the dealie. The $40.00 includes the 1st year of free long distance calls.
What do you think? Know of anything better??

I'm guessing it runs off your internet service, generally the ones offered by your cable company are better because they have dedicated bandwidth. Up here we have "Vonage", I had quite a few customer complaints of "poor call quality" after selling them for a couple years. From what I hear the tech is better now but I'm sure it still isn't as good as the one offered by my cable company.

we use vonage... it works great, voice clarity is amazing, and its free local / long distance. I'd highly recommend it.
If you decide to go through with it I can give you a special link to click where we both get 2 free months if you sign up.. not a bad way to kick start off a new plan
the lowest plan is 14.95 a month, and the 24.95 a month plan includes unlimited local + long distance to anywhere within the U.S and a couple other countries plus dirt cheap rates if you call odd-ball countries.
Send me an e-mail if you decide to use it...we'll get it started!

I had a customer that had it with our highspeed internet. He said it worked great, as long as his internet was up. But he did say that he can take it anywhere with him and if he has a highspeed connection, he can use his home phone in another state. You have to have a computer that is on for it to work though. He used a laptop and left it on all day. You also can choose a number from somewhere else. He had family somewhere else and got a local number for them, so they can call him free. I believe all his out going calls were free as well. For the price he told me, it would be worth a try. Something like $29.99 a year. So, you can't really go wrong trying it for a year. -- 89 GTA Trans Am stock.WS6 T-Tops, Alpine sound system, Flowmaster exhaust
