Got some new parts in today for my front sump conversion on the 383!
The Conquest has the steering stuff to the rear of the cross member, so it's not a rear sump friendly engine bay...

Yep, that's it... You're such a douchebag...
Forgive me for thinking it would be ok to post about my excitement about some new parts that arrive for my car project... Looking at the pics of your car with with rags in the intake was much more interesting... Thanks for setting me straight...
Check out these hot threads... At least mine is car related and not a childish attempt at validation like your "hey guys, I finally got a job, pat me on the back... I suck at all real jobs..." or "hey guys, i'm working out... tell me i'm pretty..."

Yeah... The engine was up for sale, and I picked up the conquest as a DD, but it's slow as piss, and after doing some research, a number of people have done this or a similar swap...
I guess it makes for a pretty fast car... The car weighs less than 3000lbs, it's rear wheel drive, and a SBC/TH350 combo fits into the existing tranny tunnel... Only major problems are welding new engine mounts, cowling the hood, and converting to front sump oil system...
I have a few more parts to pick up and a few things to tweak on the car before the existing engine gets yanked, but hopefully I'll be starting on the swap within a couple weeks... --

cool. that'll be interesting to see.
can't you use motor plates? alot of people that do swaps (that i've seen) will run the plates to lessen the work load of fabbing mounts. -- 1987 Trans Am - 5.0 Auto - SOLD

I've looked into using a motor plate, as it seems like it would be the easiest route...
I think it may be a tad tough though due to the way the water pump is on the LT1's... You actually have to mount the plate between the block and water pump, so the coolant flows through the plate... You have to put gaskets on both sides, and the same goes for the other accessories... They all mount to the front of the plate, which is mounted to the front of the block... That can cause pulley alignment issues, etc...
that being said, I have thought about maybe fabricating a pseudo engine plate which mounts on the available bolt holes on the front the engine, but without effecting any of the existing accessories... Not sure if it'll work though...
I think worst case, I can take some square tubing, cut two sections, weld them each to a plate which can be bolted to the existing frame, and another plate which will allow for a traditional bolt on clam style engine mount... Then just weld a support section of tubing between the two for support...
I'll be sure to take ton of pics of the progress... I want to create a swap guide as I've come to find that while a decent number of folks have done this, noone has a really good (in my opionion) guide on how to do it... I may also see about making some money of the custom fabbed mounts...
I'm a little worried about how tough it's going to be to get the IRS rear to hold the power to the road... --
