but nooooooooooooo. i cant. got my wisdom teeth out this morning. it sucks. Im laying in bed with gauze in my mouth... cant feel my face. all i can taste is blood.
apparently when i first woke up, i kept asking them where my socks were... (i was wearing shoes and socks still..) and then invited them all to come drinking with me. then they told me that i cant drink, because im only 20... and i kept trying to convince them it was ok. haha. --

When I'm coming off the anesthetic, I'm going to make everyone promise to keep my mom away from me... lord knows what I would say to offend her, haha. --

i wish i wouldn't have been able to feel my face. They didn't give me a dose of pain meds that actually worked, so i just didn't take em.
dip is hella gross its a good thing you can't do it. -- http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2210351 94 Formula A4

it hurts for a few days, but it isn't really that bad.
if you go under for it, the actual surgery didn't bother me at all.
count back from 10. I watched her push the syringe and I was out at 10. I remember waking up and being a little loopy for the ride home but other tahn that - nothing really to worry about. Watch out for dry socket though, I got one very midly and taht really did hurt.

Don't worry, if you keep dipping all your teeth will be useless in due time. --

I had my wisdom teeth taken out in 1995. It was one of my first long distance trips where I drove the car. Anyway, just like everyone else said...not really too much in the way of pain. Lots of blood after the surgery, numb pain in my jaws but nothing that was even remotely close to crossing my threshhold. The doctor gave me the laughing gas and count to ten. I made it to six and then it was lights out until my dad was dragging me back to the car, literally. Fortunately my dad is 6'4 and about 250 lbs so it wasnt an issue. I was also only about 115 lbs, wet, at that time. -- Why in the world would I ever want to downgrade to a V8?

I had to have my front lower gums pulled back up from years of dipping. My roots where exposed.
They had to "window" the roof of my mouth to harvest some hard gum tissue and then graph the said tissue onto my lower gums. 3 hours of gargling my own blood and having blood spattered on my face...
I quit for a few months but started back up latley.
...its soo good! Once it hits your lips! Its soo good!! --

and my face is fine already. slightly sore, but not more than getting hit playing hockey or something. excuse me while i go eat some more jello. --

I don't mind the pain aspect... not too excited about swallowing large amounts of my own blood, lol. --

All i have been tasting up till now was blood. its disgusting. im honestly surprised i didnt throw up. couldnt eat after midnight last night, and then swallowing all that blood....
And it wasnt painful really. there is still a minor dull ache. thats about all it has been though. Keep in mind, apparently mine were in very easy positions to extract. --

The "experience" of getting them pulled depends entirely on how your wisdoms are in the first place.
Mine? Impacted and well below the gums. I think I was 17 when I had the procedure done. The doc had to do a fuckload of digging, ripping, and pulling to get them out. The good news? I didn't feel a damn thing during the procedure or a while afterward, and even though it took three hours, it felt like a couple minutes to me. The bad news? Took at least four days before I was up and around again, let alone at 100%. The pain meds didn't do shit once the gas wore off. The "full" recovery took a while, the stitches in the back of my mouth drove me insane, I couldn't stop playing with them with my tongue. Every so often I still run my tongue over the holes back there, and when I do, I remember the taste from the few days after.
If your wisdoms are fairly straight forward and not fucked up like mine, you could be up and around the next day, or maybe later that same day if you're lucky.
I only remember a couple of things, one was trying to count to ten with the gas, the other was opening my eyes to see the doc literally ripping somthing out of the back of my mouth (not as gross as it sounds, it was actually kind of funny since I couldn't feel anything,) and the doc asking me how long I thought I'd been in there...I answered something like "uhh, 10 minutes?" and they told me we were at the 3 hour point. I was told afterward when I first got out of the chair I grabbed and tried to put on a doctor's coat (yes, one of those long white ones) hanging from the door thinking it was mine. That was right before I took my keys out of my pocket, handed them to the nurse, and told her I probably wasn't OK to drive. Heh.
My mom, always the do-gooder, scheduled it for a Friday, "so I could have the entire weekend to recover and not miss much school." Oh, gee...thanks for that. -- '98 Firebird Formula http://members.cardomain.com/tailwind [ Edited on 05/14/2008 @ 06:37:05 ]
