went and test drove some cars today...

Posted By: Fattie On: 05-12-2008 @ 23:27:12         Reply | Edit
well me and a buddy tried to go out a couple weeks ago, but missed all the dealerships before the closed. we started out earlier today.
first on the list was a 02 Trans Am, it was at a small local dealership. it was an auto with 60k on it i think. not bad, the guy came with and wouldn't let my buddy come. so that was pretty stupid. but it was like any other TA, nothing special. guy wanted a lot for it, and i don't want an auto so no go
second on the list was a 04 GTO, also an auto, but i just wanted to drive it. this was at a nice dealership. the guy let me and my friends take it out for as long as we wanted, not too worried. too bad we only had 1/8 tank of gas so we couldn't go far. had a good drive, my friends got a feel for a GTO, since i wanted their opinion on it.
next we took out a 06 i think Cobalt SS. my buddy was kind of interested in one so he drove it. not a bad little car. the supercharger is pretty damn quite in it, and the car overall is pretty quiet.
next car out was a 03 infinity g35 6 speed. never been in one before so i didnt' know what to expect. me and my friend both drove it. actually a pretty damn nice car. handled pretty damn nice, and those brembo brakes felt great. i liked the car but with my short legs i was too damn close to the dash after moving the seat up. so i didn't like that. my buddy liked the car a lot though, and totally changed his mind about the cobalt after driving the g35. can't blame him haha
after that we went and took out a 07 mustang gt. wasn't very impressed with it. sounded good, but i didn't like the interior at all. the guy was hesitant about me taking it out and of course came with. it wasn't a bad car...just not my cup of tea at all.

overall nice afternoon driving some cars. there wasn't a whole lot to offer around here for fun cars so that kind of sucked. i just wanted to try some different cars out there and see what i liked. wanna get into something here soon if the wallet can handle it. haha

I couldn't even think about buying a new car right now. I'm glad you are in a position you can. Sheesh, it's getting scary out there.

i'm not looking at expensive cars...i can't afford a lot. i just want to get something besides my truck and don't want to wait any longer to do it. i'm looking more along the lines of $16k or so. so its not too bad.

for what a G35 is going to cost you, you might as well snab a really nice C5 or a C5 Z06.

Supercharged cobalts aren't that nice, the new turbo ones though, that is a different story.

Sounds like fun, too bad there are so many autos. And are you sure the Cobalt SS was supercharged? They make them with just the 2.4. Just saying that cuz I can hear the supercharger if I recall correctly. I've driven a few of them. Big difference in power between the two.

the cobalt SS was decent, but seemed kinda slow to me.

g35 would be a nice car, but arnt all that fast

yes the cobalt was supercharged. i wasn't lookin at it. my buddy was interested in it.
the g35 we just kinda drove for the hell of it since neither of us had ever driven one. i wouldn't buy one personally. its nice but it isn't that fast. plus it is more than i'd want to spend.

i'm still leaning towards a goat as my next car. i've driven 3 now. ls1 manual, ls1 auto and a ls2 manual.

go test drive a grand prix GXP (V8) or bonny, impala, monte.

they werent fast, but for a 4 door they could sure get out of their own way

I'm 5'8", 155-160 at the moment, and I fit in C5s like a glove. Sure a C6 is the same way.

that's the problem with them C5's and C6's... us small guys fit in there real nice. I didnt really think much of them til I sat in one at the auto show (C5 back in the day) after that there was no turning back, though I dont know how well they would do in the wisconsin winters
