I got a set of 93 firehawk rims that were in semi decent shape. I decided to strip the paint off and polish up the aluminum.
so far I am about 2 hrs into the first wheel.
started off with a round file and 320 wet sandpaper. then went to 600 and then to where i am at now with 1000, I need to go buy 1500 and 2000 and then repolish after more sanding
here is a pic of the rim 1/2 way done.

what do you think
eventually I will send these rims off to weldcraft wheels for some widening and narrowing as well as repairing the curb rash that is pretty harsh.
thanks for your opinions -- 94 formula, turning into a trans am

you are going to end up spending as much on those wheels to get them fixed and widened than if you just bought some aftermarket wheels....
just a suggestion. -- http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2210351 94 Formula A4

go for it. im really getting into this wheel refinishing thing.
im doing a set of gta rims for a gnx guy. got rid of all the curb rash gloss black spokes polished lip. thing looks immaculate. once im done with these, im going to attempt to widen a set of spare rims that no one wants to buy.
its definetely worth the work... -- i rock.

yeah they are from the for sale section (part of a swap of a ton of parts) locally.
part of the reason that i am gonna put this work into these rims is that they fit the theme of my car. I recently got a 93 firehawk hood as well.
I think it would be cool to go to the track and put on a set of rare stock wheels that are set up for slicks and skinnies. -- 94 formula, turning into a trans am

please don't narrow those!
if you widen the rears that is one thing, but please please don't narrow the front!
plus 17" narrow wheel kind of defeats the purpose anyway. It is still going to be heavier than a 15" by a bunch. -- http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2210351 94 Formula A4

oh yeah there 16's not 17's so that makes em even rarer....
why is it ok to widen but not ok to narrow??? -- 94 formula, turning into a trans am

they are not drag wheels.
wider is better for everything. narrower is only better for drag. I think think it is kind of a waste of money to screw with them, it is going to get expensive. -- http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2210351 94 Formula A4

I would be using them as drag only wheels hence the narrowing I have y2k's for the street.
money isnt really an issue as this project will be done over time. -- 94 formula, turning into a trans am
