Anyone here from the Cleveland area and would be willing to look at a car for me? It's a rebuilt title which makes me a bit leery, and i don't really want to make a 7 hour drive just to look at a car.

Also, wasn't there a guy on here that had a silver z06 that got wrecked? I wonder if this could be his car. -- Dave

Just cause it's a salvage title doesn't mean it's a junker. -- Dave

I'm actually looking into z06's because I'm tired of my junker.
Lets face it, a 4th gen is a cheap corvette. We but it for the engine, not the build quality. -- Dave

Question for ya Trapper. I know you've had some experience with rebuilt titles. I'm looking at a z06 with a rebuild. Thoughts? -- Dave

Honestly it depends on who rebuilt it. If it's quality work, then theirs no reason not to. I knew the guy I bought my car off of and trust me his work is second to none. That was the only car I put subframes on where you didn't have to twist the body before welding them on to line the gaps up. he went out of his way to over correct the body to compensate for factory flex/flaws. If it's junk, you 'll notice off the bat. Just look at door gaps, hood/bumper/fender gaps etc and check for leaks around the windows. If their way out steer away from it it's probably got other issues under lying. biggest thing is to get it on a lift and check out the floor pan and see how it's shaped, and make sure it's not all hacked up and half assedly welded back together.
also depends on how it was totaled, was it an accident or a flood? if it was a flood don't be afraid to pull the intake (very easy in those cars BTW) and look in the ports for mud and such. also pull the blower motor and look inside the HVAC system for crap.
as always, buyer beware. cover your ass and check everything good, being it's a Vette, it's probably done right, thats not a car you repair cheap to make a quick buck on. Some one had to rebuild it because they wanted it for themselves. Which is usually a sign of willingness to go above and beyond to do a better job and make it right. -- Nothing.
