To all of my family at fbody.com

Posted By: HBHRacing On: 04-10-2008 @ 10:50:08         Reply | Edit
I don't know exactly what to say right now. I still don't have the words to fully express what is happening, however I feel that some people should know.

Yesterday morning while I was at work, a highway patrolman stopped by and asked for me. He told me that he had something to tell me. He took my hand and told me that my girlfriend Katrina was in an accident. She was pronounced dead at the accident site that morning.

As I fight through my tears to type this, I did this so that the people here that knew her, would know what happened.

I honestly do not know what to do from here. Jeremiah and his wife are on their way up here to stay with me. Any further updates will come from him.

Thank you.

OMG Harlan, I just don't know what to say, I'm just in shock.

I only met Katrina once when we went out to dinner, she was such a sweetheart.

I'm having a really hard time with this, I can't even begin to imagine what you're going through.

I thought this thread was an update on your health problems. OMG, I'm so, very, very sorry, Harlan.

Can I do anything??

I just can't believe this, you are in my prayers and Katrina and her family too.

Godspeed to you Katrina, may you rest in peace!

Harlan,

I am deeply sorry to hear this news. It is a terrible thing when we lose people close to us. The only thing that makes it even slightly tolerable is the fact that there are others out there close enough to help hold us up.

If there is anything you need, please feel free to let me know.

I feel for you and your girlfriend’s family.

The main thing i can reccomend is to find someone that you can talk to and rely on. I have no idea how your emotions are gonna hit you but spend alot of time talking to her family as you all can get through this together

Wow... I really don't know what to say. This wasn't at all what I was expecting to read when I opened the post, though I knew it wasn't good by the thread title.

I can't imagine the shock that you must be in now. It's had enough when you know a loved one dosen't have much time left. To lose some one so suddenly, so unexpectedly, in the prime of life, must be unbearable.

Even though I have never met either of you in person I have a good idea of the kind of person you are through here and over at MST. I know you are a strong person and can make it through this, hard as it will be. Remember we are ALL here for you if you need us. Please contact me if there is anything I can do to help.

Well we just got back from visiting the crash site for the first time with his mom, sis and some of Katrina's co-workers. It was really tough. Personally, Katrina is the only person I know close to me that has died other than my wife's grandmother who was sick for several years first. If its this tough, I can't even begin to imagine what Harlan and the family are going through. I'm sure he will get back on and read these soon. He still has a few things to take care of and her family is still making their way in from South Carolina, Louisiana, and Florida to make arrangements. Please keep them all in your thoughts and prayers.

Hi again everyone. Harlan just left for South Carolina to meet with Katrina's family and finalize plans. My wife and I are staying at his place in North Carolina for a couple days to help finish up some stuff here with his family and then we will all head down as soon as a final date/time is made. It may be a few days before Harlan is back on here, but I'll say thanks for the support, they really need it right now.

Thanks Jackie, I'll let him know. Yeah its been real tough for Brooke and I as well. Brooke didnt take going to the accident site too well. Brooke also helped pack her stuff today with him

Cmerc, he is in pretty rough shape. Numb is a pretty good way to describe it. He drove for the first time today, but even doing that he was awefully shakey, but he had to go to SC so he had drive. I'm not really sure how else to describe it, because I'm the last person to know what he is going through since I never have myself and (God willing) won't have to for a very long time. I guess only time will take care of this.

On a side note, our Grand Prix had been pulling to the left for a while now since Brooke got run off the road and over a curb with it. We never got around to getting it straightened out and had put new tires on it as well. It had developed more of a vibration on the way up here espically since we only stopped for gas and restroom breaks. When we got here I mentioned to Harlan that I wanted to find a place to get an alignment before we left. He called up his work and they took the car and found out that 2 of the tires, the tread had separated off the wires and would have let go at any moment!! He had all that taken care of and they threw some new tires on it at cost. I think that would have done Harlan and his family in if something would have happened to us on our way up or back...crazy.

Hi everyone, my wife and I just made it home. It may still be a while before Harlan is back on here. He is still in SC with her family and they are heading back to NC together to take care of some more things over the next few days.

We spent yesterday after the services with the families and it was nice to see Harlan cutting up a little and everyone being able to reminisce about good and funny times. I'm sure the next few months will be extremely tough as he figures everything out.

Harlan and Katrina mean a lot to us and it was never an option whether or not to go as soon as Harlan told us The 4 of us have been friends for many years now...crazy how all that works. We met though fbody.com back when I had my first fbody and started working on that "super duper top secret mod". Katrina and my wife (then g/f) hit it off really quickly which helped so they'd have something to do and we could work on the cars longer Good times

For many days, I have been trying to find some words that can describe how I feel. I simply belive that there are no such words. I don't belive that we are built to be able to understand or deal with something like this, but rather are forced to learn along the way.

My life, will never be the same. No amount of time, or change, will fill the empty void that used to fill my heart and soul. I've lost family members from old age and sickness. I can deal with that. This is different. This doesn't make sense. It just doesn't make sense.

Lost is the only word that I can use now. The person that I have loved for over 5 years, gone. The person that I lived with, gone. The one that I was going to marry, buy a house with, have children with, and grow old with, gone. In one split second, everything changes. It will never go back, never be the same.

I urge all of you that have someone that you love, to turn to them right now. Tell them how much you love them. Tell them how much they mean to you. Never let them stray far from your heart and your thoughts. You never know when you might never get the chance to tell them again.

If you need to get out of town for a while or anything like that you've got a place down here. Just remember you have great family and friends around you, thinking about you and praying for you.

I truly can't even imagine how hard this is to deal with. I've been gone for a long time from here and it breaks my heart to come back and see this news. I've never been through anything remotely as trying as this situation....and hopefully I'll never have to. Being as I'm in Iowa and have no way to help all I can offers is words and condolances. My heart truly hurts for you and her family.

Hang in there.....she's in a better place now. Remember that someday you will see her again....thats she's watching over you now.

Half hour later, and I still can't come up with
anything moving to express my sympathy other than,
"I'm Sorry Harlan".

This story has certainly put a downer on my mood
and I don't know either of you.

As much as you don't want to read this right now,
you have to be strong and move forward positively.
Surround yourself with friends and family that can
help you deal with your loss.

Never forget her and what she means to you. Don't
let this negative feeling take control of you; she
wouldn't want that to happen, and you know this is
fact.

Talk it out, write it out. You have my e-mail,
you know I'll be reading if you need to get something
off of your mind.

Take care,
Tino

I wish that I could tell you that I would heal in time. I honestly don't know if I will or not. As bad as it sounds, there is a difference between losing a family member or a friend, and losing a wife. Despite the lack of paperwork, that's what I considered her. It was never a question of if we would marry, but simply that of when. There is a part of your heart that only someone like this can touch. Not only because you see them every day, but just because there is no one else in your life that shares this feeling with you.

Should something have happened to anyone else that I love, I know that the one person that I would need by me for support would be her. So now I find that the one person I need most, is the one person that isn't there.

I wish that I could say that in a few months, I would be better. I just cant say that, because I just don't belive it. I will never get the chance to take our relationship to the places that we had planned. And I think that is one of the most sad things of all of this.

You are right. about everything you said.

You are suffering and you are going to suffer more. Hopefully one day it will be a bit less. Hopefully some day hardly at all, but never not at all.

Stick with us. We'll do what we can to help.

For the ones that are interested, I have started to build a memorial site for Katrina. I bought the domain the other day, and will make a simple site to honor her memory. I will post the link once it's complete.
