i found a 78 t/a locally. im talking with the guy who has the car about trading one of my trucks for the car. im gonna try to go look at the car next weekend, so what should i look for? rust in certain areas?

A few things to look for are rust on the dash by both a-pillars, cowl rusted to hell, unibody, trunk, I'm sure there is more but those are the ones I remember.

runnerboards

floorboard by the pedals and the same spot on the passenger side

truck area by the hinges

if its ttops...check by the rear seat belt assembely...the water from the leaking ttops drips down there.

where else...

GAS TANK!

Is this the same one you posted for me? If it is, that is a Formula, not a TA.

Anyway, check rear frame rails, lower quarters front and rear, tailpanel, floorboards, dashboard by the lower corner of the windshield, front lower quarters behind the wheels, and if it has t-tops check the roof right by the rear latch point.

formulas suck.

I think brian pretty much covered everything....check the battery tray area--mine's all ate up. Check the doors for bondo--seems like a lot of birds get sideswiped or otherwise damaged on the doors...
