Brokened my moder!

So the drag racing season went out with a bang, literally. I had been running 12.0s on motor with my cam only setup in my 01 TA. I've had a nitrous kit on the shelf for a while, but needed some items to complete it. About 2 months ago I got the itch, and I was shooting for 10s! I started collecting parts to complete it.
In the mean time it had developed a knock when cold. The short block was out of my car that was rolled and had run upside down for a short time, so this wasn't much of a surprise. Obviously the beginning of a rod bearing problem. I continued to drive it daily and take it to the track several different weekends, beating on it pretty good. It never got any worse. I knew it was a matter of time but I planned on rebuilding this winter anyhow, so I was still going to spray it and go for the gold.
Saturday the 14th rolls around, I have the nitrous kit done, installed, and ready to test. My buddy and I took it out and sprayed it 4-5 times with the 200hp jets. It was an animal! We used 6lbs. Motor is still quiet at operating temp meaning the bearing didn't seem to be getting noticeably worse, plugs look OK, etc. Time to go get the bottle topped off. We're on for the drag strip tomorrow!
Sunday morning comes. We load the car up (trailering it because it may very well break) and head out to Thompson Raceway Park in Thompson, Ohio. Pumped for a fun day, and hoping that rod bearing can hold out for just a few passes.
We get to the track, unload the car and let it idle until it is fully warm. Motor is quiet! Get ready, grab my helmet, turn on the bottle heater, and head for the staging lanes. A short time later we're rolling and it's my time to make a pass. I'm pumped, and still hoping it will hold out for at least one pass so I can get my number, cause if the car doesn't break I am DEFINITELY getting it!
I do my burnout, boom the nitrous system several times to clear the lines of any air, turn on my HP Tuners for data logging, and stage. I left soft at 4k because I knew it was probably going to spin with all the extra horsepower, which it did. Before I hit the 60' beam it sounded like someone through and handful of silverware at a cement wall and I was pulling over. It didn't make it! The track crew was ecstatic that I actually pulled over. They're used to most idiots coasting the whole way down the middle of the track leaking oil and coolant the whole way when they blow their stuff up. We found pieces of rod on the track!
All it really cost me was the block and possibly the cam, I don't know because I don't have it apart yet. Everything else was cheap stock junk. The valve springs, pushrods, rockers, timing set, etc should still be good and that's about all I was going to reuse anyway aside from the cam that may or may not be broken. Got a sweet vid out of the deal!

Congrats on keeping a cool head about it, glad you're not too upset. I've been considering getting a trailer for the same reason. If I didn't have to pay $200 and wait 2 hours for a tow truck every time I broke I wouldn't be nearly as upset.
