What would you rather have. A viper or an ls1? I can find a nice ls1 from 7-8 thousand and a viper for about 20,000 but the extra money might be wworth havin a viper. But I could be wrong. I know they don't get good gas milage, but in my 97 lt1 I have now I get about 180 miles to a tank of gas. So its probably simular. Just tossing it up in the air. I wouldn't buy a viper until you have ridden in one. Its a badass ride, but you might want to ride a few miles in one before you buy one as a dd. An LS1 fbody rides like a luxury car compared to a viper...but both are awesome in their own respects. -- 2005 CTS-V LS6 M6 13.627@105.14 stock and hot/humid

Don't buy the Viper.
You clearly don't know shit about them, it's going to be hell for you. Parts have an insane markup for them, they're a pain in the ass on a daily basis (wait until the first time you almost or actually do burn your leg getting out,) and one you can get for 20k probably isn't all that desirable in the grand scheme of things. F-bodies are borderline when it comes to daily driving, Vipers are way over the line. They're toys for nice weather and car shows, nothing you would ever want to finance or deal with every day. -- crunk is the antichrist. [ Edited on 11/15/2009 @ 20:42:48 ]

this body style? I didn't realize a Daily driver is what you were going for. Get a ls2 c6 or some sort of lsx vette..as far as vipers not the best choice for daily driving --

Yes, Chimpy...because everyone who's thinking of spending 7-8k on an LS1 F-body or "up to 20k" on a lesser old Viper can clearly afford a C6. -- crunk is the antichrist.

You definitely need to test drive the viper first. Personally I thought the ride was harsh, and uncomfortable. But on the other hand you get tons of looks, and Im sure you'll get a boobie or two to pop out at ya now and then hha -- lsxltx.com

I just don't think I could justify how horribly uncomfortable they are.
I mean, I could barely sit in one and see out the windshield (the roofline is like right at eye level for me). not to mention the odd seating position and other negatives - without even getting into the bad ergonomics and ride. This was on an 09 model, and I have heard the older ones are even worse.
I am a big guy tho, so maybe you won't run into these same issues.
A viper is definitely super bad ass, I just don't think I could deal with driving one on a regular basis (and I don't think my lowered Fbody is that bad). I think I would be much happier with a nicer, lower miles C5 Z06 for less money than an old beat up viper with a salvage title.....
comparing an LS1 fbody to a Viper is just silly though, not even close to the same class.
Even a Z06 vette to a viper is a bit of a stretch.....
do you want to spend 7-9k for a nice LS1 fbody, ~20k for a nice C5 Z06 or ~25k for a beat to hell viper......
