Anyone ever get this?

The feeling of something that just reminds you of a simpler time or brings you back to the past? I've been sitting here listening to the Wallflowers for the past half hour or so, and it's gotten me thinking back to middle school and the earlier parts of high school. I don't miss those days, I'm a lot happier now than I was then, but some songs from the 90s tend to really bring back some memories.

Does that happen to anyone else? Listening to the music almost makes me yearn for those days, even though I'm glad they're over and that I've moved on.

Breaking Benjamin- "Rain"
It was the background music for a memorial slideshow thing that was made for my friend who died a few years ago. Whenever I hear it I just have to stop and sit down for a minute.

Lithium on XM pretty much sums it up for me.
That was the stuff that was in the background when life was much more simple.

A lot of it was music that I really didn't care for, but it is forever attached to a that period in time.

I'm the same way with most metallica music steve. My brother got me into metallica and we would always listen to it when we visited my dad's house (we had different mom's and would only see each other every other weekend). He died 4 years ago when he was 19, I was 17. I posted all the details here, I'm sure some of the vets remember. But, I organized most of the funeral and the funeral music was mostly metallica with a little zeppelin and pink floyd. Aside from a young kid dying, we all kept it light hearted, making jokes, dropped the casket going out (luckily no one was around), the herse rear-ended the funeral director (only my brother could get into an accident on the way to his own funeral).

Sorry for the rant, but that's what this thread is about right? heh.

So yeah, I feel ya about the music. I think everyone associates music to certain times or events in their life. Maybe you relate to the song, or maybe it was just playing on the radio when you asked your girl to marry you, or you got some good/bad news, or whatnot.
