Ask anyone who had more than a sprained ankle about how well they like their univ healthcare. Most will give you a gut wrenching story about a loved one with a real issue that had to wait an obscene amount of time or needed to be flown to the US for real treatment because there werent any specialists in the entire region capable of helping them. Usually these people die because the in-country wait is too long and they simply do not have the funds to go overseas Next, have you actually READ the health bill or some key points, mostly the ones Jer screams about whenever anything relating to the bill pops up? Theres a TON of hidden agendas, kickbacks etc that arent relating to actual health coverage for the poor. It makes the medical staff look like gov't workers. You can't expect someone to try their best and go above and beyond their abilities if they're guaranteed to make the same amount of money regardless. Then, when you KNOW about the way the salaries and pay works, you second guess your career and education choices back in college and say, "I'll be a lawyer or engineer instead. If I'm going to go through the school I might as well get paid for it". Also, I understand how insurance as a concept works. A big pool of people makes it cheaper to pay out an amount to the few people that need it. Same with car, health, property, etc. If everyone pays a "small" amount, than when you need a big amount back, it's there. That works great...on paper. The problem is, if you can't afford healthcare now, you're not going to be able to afford it after this plan either. So instead of people just not having it, you're going to have the gov't paying for the poorer people to have insurance. With that said, the money has to come from SOMEWHERE. The supporters of the bill say taxes won't have to be increased, but that's only if it works out as well as they think. The funny part is that Obama is saying that there are no new taxes with this bill when they are written in plain English in the bill. It makes me sick that they can stand up and lie about what is and isn't in this bill. If you want to find out what is REALLY in the bill without reading it, listen to Rush and/or Hannity. In recent weeks they have been going through and reading exactly what has been put in the bill and then the sound clips of people like Obama denying that these things are in the bill.
