Charter a jet?

Posted By: Tyrel On: 11-02-2009 @ 17:09:57         Reply | Edit
Has anyone on here ever chartered a jet?

I am planning a bachelor party of epic proportions, i figure if we could swing a chartered jet it would probably be legendary.

Also, my friends and i have always talked about that scene in Iron man where the sexy stewardesses are stripping on the private jet, i want to recreate that if possible.

There are quite a few places that offer that service. Jet blue comes to mind, but i'm not sure if the prices are good or not. I don't think that's the sort of thing that you bargain shop for, heh.

i'm not really looking into bargain shopping, just don't want to be taken advantage of. 24 hours of pure legendary stuff is what i am planning. Get on the jet, fly to Vegas, hit up a few strip clubs and casinos, fly home. done.

That sounds pretty freakin sweet. I'll do some research, please post what you decide on/what you find.

i figure this way we're saving at least $100 on a hotel

This might be a pipe dream, but a couple of the guys involved have some cash, so it might be able to happen if i can get it within $1000-$1500 a person.

After some research I found that a medium to full size jet (12+ people) will cost between $3500 and 4500 an hour (of flying time). Most jets will wait for you at the rate of around $500 per night. There will be customs fees (since you're flying internationally), paperwork, this and that and misc. things that will run $2000 or so.

That means that to fly from alberta to las vegas (and back....maybe, heh) will be about $18-20,000.

Hope that helps.

Oh, that also includes a flight attendant to serve you drinks and meals. I'm not sure how much extra it costs to get her to remove her clothes. Heh.

i found a smaller one that does the same thing but is based out of the city we're flying from for around 10k, if i can beat them up a bit, it might be a go.

Anyone else have suggestions to make this the best b party ever?

i am dead serious.

However, getting him to fly to Canada, then to Vegas, then back to Canada, then back to the bahamas might be a little pricey lol.

hmmm. I will probably contact him. Should i use your name as a recommendation?

I am putting together 3-4 scenarios based on price for all the guys to choose from, then we'll make the decision as a group.

That would be great, you could just buy up all the seats on a SW flight for $30 a seat.

And don't you mean from Alberta to RALEIGH to Vegas?

tyrel, heres a thought, Iknow that lots of domestic airlines have really cut rate deals, perhaps you could buy uplike a whole plane for say 200 passengers @ mmmmmmmmm $30 per seat would be like:
200
x 30
-
$6,000 each way so...........
x2 to make it round trip
-
$12,000

so, 12 peps @ $1,000 = $12,000
so, 12 peps @ $1,500 = $18,000

that covers round trip airfare and $6,000 spending money.

Knowing something about this business... I'm sure you're imagining you're all sitting in a G550 drinking scotch on the rocks served by some pretty flight attendant. For this get ready to shell out somewhere in the area of $35,000 - $45,000. If there isn't one in the area like that you'll also pay a repositioning fee, if they're generous it'll just be crew+fuel.

For the price you're thinking you'll get some worn out Citation jet or small Lear that is uncomfortable and slow. For the money you'd be better off flying first class on a major carrier unless the massive extra cost is worth being able to say you took a "private jet" to Vegas. Also, most affordable jets seat 8. (Affordable being a relative term)

I've done consulting work for jet charter businesses as well as for private owners. Unless it was a comp deal, or I was suddenly massively rich, I wouldn't consider it as it isn't all that much better than just flying first class (unless you go balls-out with the aforementioned super-lux aircraft)... certainly not enough to ask my friends to each chip in over a grand for the ride.

You just need to befriend some high level executive for a big corporation. Then you can fly for free and he can expense the strippers.

^ wishfull thinking the A.C. (y'all know who I mean) would not allow that.
The money used for that could go to some lazy bum with too many kid, a fancy car and a house that thecant afford, and shouldn't have had.

Have you thought about just buying out a commercial flight? I heard somewhere that you can buy Jet Blue seats for $30 a piece.

He's trying.

Your idea of buying an entire commercial flight is intriguing.

What i am working on now is putting together 3 or 4 scenarios based on price per guy then i am going to take them to the group and see which option works best for everyone. The Groom wants some specific people there.

Thanks for the info everyone. This was just one of those things i knew nothing about and never considered, so i figured i'd do some research about it.

Needed to do some research on chartering a jet and solicited this forum for advice? You must not read this enough. I like the commercial flight idea, I wonder how you would work that out. Why not an RV down to Vegas or just a normal first class flight and a really sweet pad for a night or two in Vegas(like in The Hangover)?

Thats perhaps the best suggestion so far. seriously.

We will have to road trip somewhere, as our town sucks for debauchery. An interesting vehicle will absolutely add to the legend.
