New Jersey Superintendent Defends Elementary Students' Controversial Obama Song
The superintendent of a New Jersey school system where elementary school students were videotaped singing the praises of President Obama stood behind his employees Wednesday evening, saying the principal and teacher did nothing wrong -- despite growing anger from parents.
"There was nothing systematic or indoctrinating about this innocent classroom activity," Burlington Township Superintendent of Schools Christopher Manno said during a school board meeting. "There was no intention on the part of the teacher to make any political statement or promote a political agenda."
Manno specifically defended the school's principal and the teacher who led the activity.
Roughly 20 children can be seen on a video posted to YouTube singing songs overflowing with words suitable for campaign slogans and praise for "Barack Hussein Obama," repeatedly chanting the president's name and celebrating his accomplishments, including his "great plans" to "make this country's economy No. 1 again."

I think it would be worrisome if this was not a democracy. after a maximum of 2 terms Obama will no longer be president. I'm willing to wager that if he wins a 2nd term you won't see anybody singing for him after november.
until then its free campaigning, in which you just partook. -- Current: 2004 Deville, bone stock livery.

Frank, this was not a serious thread, I was trying to rile Justin up a bit, all in fun of course. However, I am mortified at your suggestion that i might be partaking in Campaigning for him, please please tell me you weren't serious.

Sarav, how hard is it to follow Nietzsche? I read Machiavelli's The Prince earlier this year, and the only thing that was clear was to not trust mercenary infantry while fighting on the peninsula.

I don't remember singing songs about Reagan or Bush when I was growing up. And I know my brothers didn't sing about Clinton or W.
So we are no longer allowed to have our kids do anything religious at school, but they have to sing propaganda about a president?
"When an opponent declares,
'I will not come over to your side.'
I calmly say, 'Your child belongs to us already…
What are you? You will pass on.
Your descendants, however,
now stand in the new camp.
In a short time they will know nothing
else but this new community.'"

Crunk, EAT YOUR HEART OUT, I just hired a guy today as a Sales District Supervisour $1,200 weekly plus 1% of the sales increas for the District.
Thats enough for one day, looking now at exhaust cutouts, and waiting for the mechanic to get my engine on the stand and torn down.
That'll give me something to do tomorrow, (talk to Lloyd and order parts)
Actually I do work between those other activities, just so ya know --

Most of the times I have heard of a story like this, it turns out the song was about multiple presidents in an attempt to help the children learn the names of all the presidents. If that was the case, then I am fine with it. If it was just singing Obama's praises, I think the teacher should be slapped on the wrist. Not worth losing their job over, but it shouldn't be supported.
Gonna take more than this to get me riled up.
So we are no longer allowed to have our kids do anything religious at school
OK, I'm riled up now. This is a lie that I want to clear up right now. Kids can pray in school all they want. The school cannot sanction anything that promotes one religion over the other. They have never been able to (per the Establishment Clause of the 1st Amendment), but until recently it was never challenged. So kids can pray and have Bible study, but teachers, coaches, any school official cannot promote any religion to students. --

I was vastly generalizing my statement. You are correct in what you said, I just didn't say all of it, just shorthanded it.
But if our schools are not allowed to promote one religion over another (because some parents might not agree with those other beliefs) why are those schools allowed to promote one political cause over another (since some parents might not agree with those other beliefs)?
It's the same thing, except in one case we are talking about God and in the other BHO is being worshipped as God. --

Want to talk about ruined days? Just spent 5 hours in the ER with my woman. Nearly all of it was waiting for something that we already had a good idea of (she was sick before and it seems her infection is back). Also, see my new thread. --

I was talking about the snow one, but that other one got me riled up too. Now that I got some shuteye, I feel much better. She seems to be a bit better too, but the pain meds haven't worn off completely, so we shall see. At least it isn't appendicitis, which is what we thought when this whole ordeal started 3 weeks ago.
You praying for her doesn't bother me in the least. It is just one of many ways of saying you care, and it happens to be the way that you feel is best. I appreciate that. --
