Anyone run a veggie diesel? Posted By: 4Birdman On: 10-02-2009 @ 09:48:30 Reply | Edit One of my father-in-law's good friends and I got to talking the other day. He has a big-ass F350 dually with the 7.4L Powerstroke. He bought it specifically to convert to veggie oil. It is really sweet, he has it set up really nice. It even smells like fries when he is running it. 
He said he pays quarterly federal road taxes on it of like $.25 per gallon, but get a federal rebate of $.51 per gallon. So he says he gets PAID $.26 per gallon for every gallon he burns. And he gets his oil for free from several different restaurants. He's had the truck for over a year now, said he paid for the system already with just the federal rebates, and he only pays for a little bit of diesel on the cold mornings to warm up the veggie oil. I'm really thinking about picking up a diesel truck. I have it figured out where I'd be saving about $2000 per year once you factor in that the oil is free and the federal credit you'd be getting. And this is with me driving normal commuting. If we did it, we'd buy a quad-cab and use it for all our family trips. That way we'd save a lot more gas money. Hmmmm, this really has me thinking........ --
