Oh hell yeah, it's nearly that time again. That special time where Tom Brady warms the hearts of several million freezing New Englanders, men unite over beer and pringles, we all find amusement in the epic failings of the Raiders and Lions, people wonder why Eli Manning is the highest paid player in the game, and we scramble every week replacing our kicker with that other kicker who'll with any luck score us an extra 1.65 fantasy points so we can hopefully beat that fuckhead from accounting.
Who's your team, and what do you expect? I'm a Patriots fan, and we're going to kick the shit out of you. All of you...except maybe two or three. 14-2 or 13-3, take it to the bank.
I'm predicting a dogfight between the Giants and Eagles in the NFC East, Green Bay taking the North, the Saints in the South, and, uh, Arizona in the West...I guess. The AFC will be all NE for the East, Pittsburgh in the North, Indy in the South, and San Diego out west...just because every other team in that division is a joke.
Saints fans should watch out for Carolina though, and I think Baltimore may be able to give the Steelers a run. Granted, you know how football is, for all we know, the Lions may win 10. -- Me > Tyrel > Nate > Pongo > pirate > three dead $5 hookers > Dubya > Pauly Shore > Meg Griffin > A-Rod > Michael Moore > Jimmy Fallon > crunk

Monday night VS. the Raiders is a great way to start the season. Can't wait for that.
I'm predicting 11-5 for my Chargers, 12-4 at very best. Depending on health, could go deep in the playoffs. We'll see how the defense performs the first few weeks under ron rivera. -- Hi.

One thing I can't believe is how a lot of so-called experts (mostly at ESPN and Scouts Inc) keep repeating over and over that NE's defense is "old" and full of veterans. I can only think of a few guys that are over 30, and none are really over the hill. Adalius Thomas is 32, Shawn Springs 33 or 34 (the only one on the absolute brink IMO,) Derrick Burgess is 31, and Jarvis Green is 30...that's it. The rest of the guys are all in their 20s. Average age is around 27, making them one of the younger units in the league.
Now, raising questions on the effectiveness is one thing, but come the fuck on, if you're paid to professionally analyze these things, can't you take 30 seconds to research if anything in your "article" is even correct? I can understand if you think they may not be that good, personally I doubt they'll be elite, but I think with our offense they'll be decent enough to get the job done. -- Me > Tyrel > Nate > Pongo > pirate > three dead $5 hookers > Dubya > Pauly Shore > Meg Griffin > A-Rod > Michael Moore > Jimmy Fallon > crunk

Steelers
Won Super Bowl and went 12-4 in last season with the hardest schedule in the NFL.
This season we lose alomst nobody to free agency. No major injuries yet.
The scheulde this season is a cakewalk compared to last year.

*sigh* Fucking Bengals....
This year I'm looking forward to a more effective defense. I'm pretty excited about our new LB Maualuga... we haven't had a player to be afraid of in a LONG time.
The offense has potential if they address the weak line and figure out what they're going to do at QB. Carson "Made-of-Glass" Palmer has been mostly ineffective since 2005.
One thing I found interesting about my team was the HBO series Hardknocks confirming what most of us already knew... The owner, Mike Brown, is calling the shots. There's a scene where he's deciding player assignments and you can see the coaches rolling their eyes. Until this moron hires a GM and realizes he doesn't actually know anything about football our team will never be truly competitive.
I did buy a new Jersey for this year though... it's a #84 Seahawks Houshmenzadeh jersey -- 95 Formula 1 of 7,448

Eagles are my team, anywhere from 9-7 to 11-5 could happen, I personally think 10-6. They'll be fighting with the Giants for the division and the a wild card berth for whoever doesn't win it.
Brady looks good as usual, I think those inside linebackers for the Pats are still young, they get a bit confused in coverage and have some trouble with tight ends. They'll still go 12-4, 13-3, Brady back is definitely worth 2 wins.
I think the NFC North is going to be fun to watch, well except for the Lions. --

The Clowns
Favorite GM/Coach Nickname: ManKoK
Starting QB: Uhhh...Quinn. Or Anderson. Maybe Bartel or Ratliff. I have no clue.
Key addition by subtraction: KW2
Key losses: Stallworthless, Jamal Lewis' first three steps.
Key additions: Rookie Receivers, Braylon's Hands?? RB Davis to start after JLew's funeral during the bye week.
Expectations: To make simple football plays, like tackling and not shitting themselves on the field.
Odds of expectations being met: Low
Prediction: 3-5 wins. Pick number 1-4.
Game most looking forward to: 10/25 vs Green Bay. Because that game means that Cleveland's real team starts playing that week. --

I'm not worried about the Pats' inside linebackers as much as I am the secondary. The Patriots live and die by their pass D, which is more on Meriweather, Springs, and Bodden. They exiled 90% of the guys in there last year. If you look at the results, the team is a Super Bowl contender (or winner) every year they have an above-average pass D, and they're a playoff flameout every year it sucks (granted, most of the time it sucked was because of injuries, but it's football. They happen.)
It makes me a little sick to say it, but I'm actually pulling for the Eagles to put on an offensive show this year. Might have a little something to do with DeSean Jackson and Brent Celek being two of my fantasy starters...
Maualuga has high bust potential, IMO. I hope he turns out to be a great player, but there's a lot of hype there. I'm a fan of his ever since he did the hump dance behind Erin Andrews a while back.
I'm not fully convinced on the Steelers, either. Their defense is still studly (thanks mostly to a monster LB corps,) but can they score? Parker's declining, Mendenhall is unproven, the O-line has been a continual problem for a couple years, and Roethelisberger doesn't exactly have Randy Moss and Andre Johnson out there to throw to. I do like Miller, though. -- Me > Tyrel > Nate > Pongo > pirate > three dead $5 hookers > Dubya > Pauly Shore > Meg Griffin > A-Rod > Michael Moore > Jimmy Fallon > crunk

Packers definitely! looking forward to the season. offseason was fun to watch, but it's just that...the offseason. i think the offense is going to do some good things. rodgers looked great in his play time. and i'm really excited to have a good, active tightend with finly, he looked like he has a lot of potential. the new defense looks pretty good, i don't expect all the take aways in the preseason to keep up in the reg season, but i think we'll have a good amount.
should be a good year. i'm predicting we win the north. --

Damn, lost our pro bowl center and the wall. Rivers was already gonna be scrambling like crazy tomorrow, won't have shit for protection. Now there's a big hole in our DLine also. Great.
I'm predictiing a Chargers loss now. I was already 50/50 against the ravens. No LT, No Hardwick, No Wall. Ughhhly. Ravens D is alot like pittsburgh, sproles will wear out pretty quick, hopefully they run alot of 2 back sets with sproles/bennett.

Fuck pass interference, dumbest fucking rule in all of sports.
Not to mention the Colts gets more bullshit calls for it than any other team out there. Twice today they've gotten HUGE plays on completely ridiculous PI, the second being far worse than the first.
The Patriots should be winning this game by 20+ fucking points, and because of some bullshit and the refs, it's going to come down to the last two minutes and 30 yards. I swear to christ if they lose I'm going to break something. -- crunk is the antichrist.

Bengals are for real but i bet they fall apart in the later games. Still not in love with favre and the vikes even with only one loss. Colts look damn good. Cowboys are all over the place. So are the egales and pit.

I don' think we'll fall apart in the later games. We play Oakland, Cleveland, and Detroit over the next three weeks. Minnesota and San Diego are the only two real threats we have left.
I'm breathing easier after we beat Baltimore and Pittsburgh twice each. Hopefully everyone stays healthy.
I was surprised by NE going for it on 4th down. That spot does seem like complete crap. He wasn't juggling the ball, he was tucking it away when he was hit. I suppose it could have gone either way but you don't want a game decided by officiating like that.
These pass interference penalties are ridiculous. Especially a down field interference call, that can be a 60 yard penalty. I can see giving them 10 and a 1st down but not half the damn field when there was no gurantee the receiver would have even caught the ball anyway. -- 95 Formula 1 of 7,448

so thats something to be proud of, would you be therefore just a proud to steal the candy from my 6 year old niece? Realisticaly playing Oakland should be like a preseason game, start your first team for one quarter, establish a lead and then let the second, third, and practise squads get some playing time, not that they would truly be pushed but at least it might give them a sense of worth.
BTW (hangs head in shame) I am (whispering) an Oakland fan
