Bryan & the NC Guys!

Posted By: LightningquickLS1 On: 08-28-2009 @ 08:36:42         Reply | Edit
Whats up guys?

Havent been around much lately. I actually need a favor and Im hoping someone from NC may be able to help me out. I have an older friend who is about to relocate (with his family) to North Carolina, and he is having an unbelievably hard time finding a job. He recently went down there to apply and look for a new home (NJ's cost of living is killing him right now), but came home with no leads and is now more stressed than ever. He will be out of a job come November due to a downsizing, so he had planned to relocate before the Fall. Being that he has a wife and family, you can imagine how stressful and scary this is becoming for him.

This is honestly one of the best guys I know, and at this point I think he is willing to entertain almost any ideas. He is an incredibly hard worker, and is just one of those "jack of all trades" type of guys. He has worked for the DOT and the highway repair crews/municipal township crews/etc. for years, so I know he is leaning towards that "field", but at this point he is open for ideas.

Anyways, If any of you guys have ANY leads (close friends, friends of friends, a family member, old coworkers, etc.) who might be able to help him with a lead or an opportunity, I would consider it a HUGE personal favor to me as I would love to be able to help this guy out. Obviously I am not looking for "there is a Quick Check down the street from me looking for help" or something of that nature (lol), but for a career type job that will give him enough to live on. I know in this job market a "good" job is hard to come by, but i figured I'd see if anyone could help.

Feel free to post here or email me at cosmo247@hotmail.com if youd like to discuss.

Thanks fellas!

what part of the state is he looking to relocate to? or what type of work would he most likely entertain?

I know for a fact that Time Warner Cable and Dish network are hiring installers, Verizon Communications is looking for some service techs in the lower piedmont area, and Consolidated Utilities just picked up a new contract, so they're going to need some new locators.

I know a good number of landscapers, and construction companies(dirt movers, pipe layers) in the Charlotte, Monroe, Concord area that may be hiring if he needs something quick.

Hey bro,
Thanks for the quick response man! I actually JUST emailed him after seeing your post to get a little more of the specifics from him (specifically, WHERE he is looking to move in the state and WHAT field he is most interested in). Ill post back as soon as I hear back from him.

As I said, this is a really good guy with a good heart, so I hate to see him struggling like this. It would be awesome to help him in some way.

Thanks again man!

Tell him send his resume, and any information he might be able to give me. I work for an engineering firm and have a lot of contacts with subcontractors. We're a little lean on construction in the area right now, but I'll pull all the weight I can for him.

Hey guys,
I apologize for the late reply. My friend unfortunately had to attend a funeral this weekend, so I just recieved his email response (with some new information) this morning.

This is what he said;

Mike
Thanks for the information you sent me, I appreaciate all of your help and anything your friends can do for me would be appreciated. The kind of work I am looking for is any full time work with beneifits, My work history right now is with the Department of Public Works, which involves Truck driving, Landcapeing, Carpentry, Masonary work, Paving, and Snowplowing. I am also an Emergency Medical Technition (E.M.T.).
We also do work in the sewer department we have a sewer collection system, and we clean the sewer lines with a sewer jetter which I run.
I am always looking for a new chalange or a new job so I am willing to learn something new as I said I would like something that has benifits.
Onces again thanks for your help and when you hear from your friends please feel free to call me at home, or you can e mail me, or you can pass this information on to them directly. I also have a resume and cover letter if anyone needs it.
Thanks again.

As of right now, I dont think he is partial to ANY specific part of NC, as the quality of job he can get is much more important.

JJ, ANY direct contacts or leads you can give me for him would be appreciated, as well as any job postings you can pass to him. I can put you in touch with him directly, if something looks promising, or if youd rather not be involved we could put him in touch with your contacts as well.

Bryan, thank you so much man. I will have him email you directly at the address you gave and will cross my fingers for him.

Due to the poor job market right now, he has been getting the run around from almost every employer he's been in touch with, so I know how much he'll appreciate having even just a little help in his corner. As I said, this is a really great guy who would give you the shirt off his back, so Im hoping karma throws him a little luck right now.

Thank you again guys, Ill owe ya for this.

-Mike

I'm in the town he wants to move to right now. I'm going to grab the Sunday paper and send it to him for the job section.
