Rented a new Camaro today

Welp, I'm on vacation and on our way to Maine we stopped off in Baltimore to visit my grandfather. I had a Buick Lucerne lined up and the guy in front of me said something about renting a Camaro. When I went up, I asked if they had any more and they had one left that was being cleaned up. I said if it was a lot more than what I had then dont worry about it, but the lady hooked me up and for $20 more than I was already paying, I got a new Camaro.
The small trunk opening takes some getting used to, but if you put your luggage in there in the right order, it really can hold a lot. It took ALL our luggage and it was the easiest car I've ever put the car seat into. Its the only car I've ever driven with paddle shifter that actually holds the gear you want, down shift to slow the car down, etc...and it does it well. Cruising around the loops in Baltimore it is very easy to get going over 90mph w/o really noticing it. It doesn't feel as fast as the 4th gens, but it is by almost a second in the 1/4.
My wife now wants one for a DD

I think all the rentals are V6's, but at 304 hp, it's got some good power. Doesn't have that muscle-car sound though, more of a 350z/G35 sound. The V6 also feels a little lighter and more agile than the 8, which makes up for the power deficit a little, especially in the twisties. -- 96 Chevy S-10 4.3 LITERS OF FURY!!!
Volant CAI, Sony Xplod cd player, Alpine R12 sub, XM satellite radio, 3.5" Fabtech lift, Cragar 342's, 30" Kumho mud tires, more on the way

I have seen a few around town, but only v6's. they are still one hell of a sexy lookin automobile. lookswise tho, i'd take a challenger first. I'm a GM guy, but a classic muscle car guy first. --

The company was Avis. I did everything through cheaptickets.com but no mention of Camaros there. You get a TON of looks at redlights and on the highway. I'd love to drive the V8 in manual sometime.
When we got into Boston today, I thought I was going to pick up a Buick Lucrene(sp?) and instead got my choice of 2 Chargers and 2 Maximas I got everything loaded in a Charger and realized right away I didnt want it from the way it felt and since the interior was nasty and sticky. I went for a brand new Maxima and it is a LOT of fun. We took the 3 hour road trip from Boston to our cottage in Maine and played every second of it..lol If I ever ventured away from GM, it would be into a Nissan for sure. -- 2005 CTS-V LS6 M6, 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix ..only own GM and always will

My father-in-law has a Maxima. What a weird car, I can't ever get used to driving it. Everything feels too small in it. I fit fine, but the dash feels too low and small, and everything else is just placed weird. Everyone in the family laughs at me driving it because they say I look like a giant in it.
He's selling it this fall and buying an old GTO though.
The local Enterprise lot here had a V8 Camaro one on the lot, too. --

I know this is an old post, but I just returned from Baltimore with 2 other co-workers. Our secretary had requested a full size car from Avis, but it ended up being a dark grey Camaro. There was also a yellow one sitting next too it. There were 3 of us and we were able to get the bags in the trunk, but like Jeremiah said, the opening took some work. While the back seat was tight, it was much easier to get into compared to the 4 generations. Unfortunately we were just up for the day and I never got the chance to drive it. --

I wondered if it might have been the same one. It had 1,300 miles on it and a few door dings already. I did notice it had Massachusetts plates, which I thought was a little odd. Do you remember what plates were on your rental? --

I've seen hundreds.... on car carriers heading from where they store them down to the U.S.
I saw a car carrier full of Red SS's followed by a carrier of black SS's and I nearly pooped my pants --
