New Toy...long time coming.

Posted By: Jeremiah On: 07-03-2009 @ 00:36:35         Reply | Edit
Welp, the bug bit me again. My wife and I have been talking about it for a while, I just havent come across the right deal. At lunch I went to the Pontiac, Buick, GMC dealership just to see if they could find me a CTS-V anywhere in the area and give me a fair price for my truck. I did not really expect to find something. They have some computer database setup and the nearest CTS-V was 1600 miles away and they ship it here for free. They gave me way more for my truck than I expected and signed the papers.

I should have the car Monday (Tuesday at the latest) because of it being a holiday. I have the right to refuse it if I don't think it is in the condition stated.

Its a 2005 Stealthgray CTS-V, 40k miles, M6...should be a fun car...lets see how long it remains stock

Oh I'm jealous. If I had more money and was looking to buy a used car, that'd be right up there with a used Vette. Those things are fun, and so nice inside!

I'd leave it stock. Those cars are awesome as is.

I've been on the GTO bandwagon for my next ride, but CTS-Vs are appealing and the price range for one that's a few years old should be pretty similar (what's the damage for you, if you don't mind me asking?) I think I'd be less inclined to mod the CTS vs. the GTO, too, which would save me money and a headache in the long run.

Love the CTS's in gray and silver, the GTO I'd look for black or arrest-me-red.

My favorite color for the cts is black, but the only black they could find was a year newer and about $5k over what I wanted to spend.

I got this one for $24k. I know I could find a similar year/mileage car for $20k on autotrader, but I don't mind spending the little extra to be able to get rid of my truck and have it delivered for free and still have the right to refuse it if I find something wrong with it. I get free oil changes for life at this GM dealership too.

Its the 5.7L LS6. 2006 got the LS2 I believe. Same hp, different motor.

There are a lot of 2005 guys running 380-390rwhp with longtubes, no cats, exhaust and dyno tune...I'm gonna like this motor.

I preferred our 02 Ls6 to the 05 LS2 in the vettes to be honest. Felt a little more wild and untamed on the top end.

pics!! I have an 05 CTS, and I was thinking about the V just the other day...How much fun it would be on the twisty track, and the "unique factor". Drove one on a GM V-series day at the local military base (abandoned)...2 mile track. Great car!!

The 05's got a stronger rear, but since its a dd, it wont see a ton of track time.

Jackie, I already bought the plane tickets for Maine this year I wanted to drive but was out voted because of the baby. Next summer Ill lobby for driving again..haha.

Still no V and still no temp car that they promised..they said the cts they were going to give me to drive in the mean time was in service all day but I drove by at lunch and it was sitting on the lot. Now they told me to pick up the temp cts on my way to work in the morning...we will see how that works out.

So I called again today. I asked for the name of the shipping company and said I'd get to the bottom of this since they couldn't...well magically between last night and this morning they now have an arrival date. They said it was picked up on the 9th (a week after I bought it) and will be here by Tuesday the 14th and that is an official date from the shipping company..lol

I should have had that attitude from the beginning probably...or I could have not been a cheap-ass and spent the $7k on the newer cts-v in florida and a lot closer
