Netflix + Xbox = ?????????? Posted By: FSANE On: 01-09-2009 @ 20:03:52 Reply | Edit anyone uses netflix on Xbox 360? is it worth it? I don't see my self mailing out DVD or Waiting for them. its $9 a month so it might be worth it, but I heard a rumor that movies that Columbia pictures/Sony produce are not available on the Xbox. Amazon Unbox and iTunes offer awesome content, including new movies and TV shows fresh from the boob tube, at obscenely high prices. (It costs $12.99 to buy a download of The Prestige on iTunes.) Thanks to its all-you-can-eat pricing scheme, Watch Now is a giant step forward. I can honestly say, however, that in the 12 or so hours I've spent watching Netflix's streaming offerings, I've seen nothing I would pay to see. At the risk of sounding needlessly harsh, I found the offerings impressively bad, as though some schlock curator from an Ivy League cinema studies department was called upon to select the dreckiest soft-porn screwball comedies ever made. Find Caddyshack too highbrow? Try Golfballs! You won't find any of Kieslowski's Trois Couleurs movies. You will find Andy Sidaris' Triple B trilogy, which features more "bullets, bombs, and babes" than you can shake a stick at. If you search hard enough, you'll find a handful of newish highbrow releases like Sherrybaby and Conversations With Other Women. I do, however, enjoy watching TV shows on it. I watched all 3 seasons of Heros recently. This alone was worth it. Not only could I stream them but they came in through HD which looked even exceptionally well for HD. IMO its worth it because of how cheap it is. I just watch Iron Eagle for the first time on it two nights. I really like the Netflix on Xbox. But to be fair, I was already a Netflix subscriber, so its another service I get that doesn't cost me a dime extra. It is mostly older/more obscure stuff and TV shows. There is some decent stuff on there. If I want something newer I'll just let them send it to me.
