This season I've found cam timing issues, blown up the motor, and got it running great. Done a little street driving, and found no traction on the wed. night grudge racing with all the street tire cars.

doc:may be a bit before i put it on the car.ill paint it at the same time. it does look to be a good quality part. and being one of the few places i would trust to get one.
it will need the usual sanding, and paint of course.one of the other guys in our group purchase did a good write up on the spoiler over at thirdgen.org.

I've decided to go ahead and pay a body shop to do the work on my IROC. If I wait to try and do it myself I'll never get done. I'll buy the nose, fender, door and seals, but let the body shop do the body work and paint. I'll then do the interior like I want. The last guy told me he'd do everything for 1100 if I bought the seals. I didn't think that was bad considering what needs to be done.

Having the engine bay pretty much empty sped things up. The headers were a blessing and a curse

The LTs snagged the K member preventing the dist from being mush against the firewall, but they didnt let it lean back enough to easily get the second bolt up on the bellhousing

Also for shits and giggles I did it with the driveshaft still installed. It really didnt get in the way

Dammit, I charged the battery on my IROC. It hadn't been started in a couple of months. Hit it and it started up immediately, just like always, but then it went out about 3 seconds later. Now I can't hear the fuel pump prime and it will only turn over but not start.

I guess I'll start at the relay and see if maybe it's gone. I hope so, it's a PITA to drop the tank and change the pump.

Seems like everytime I want to do something to it something else it messed up. The headlight switch is twisting in the dash so I have to pull that to see if the mounts on the dash are broken or if the switch itself is bad.

Always something.

If the relay was shot youd never prime

Get a pressure gauge to see if it looses pressure during or after it first primes

No sense in dropping the tank for a good pump when something else is the issue

I dont know for camaros but firebirds have a removable dash surround which allows access to the switch itself. 3x 9/32 bolts and shes free

Posted By: Calaban007 On: 09-02-2009 @ 07:48:23     Reply | Top | Edit
After that 3 second run time above it hasn't primed at all since. I'm pretty sure it's the pump, sadly. I think it may have been residual pressure from the last time I started it up that caused it to run that 3 seconds. I wasn't listening for the pump, but I didn't notice it, which is unusual before the 3 second run. Relays are cheap, I may replace it anyways. Then the pump.

First I tryed the 12 volts to the G terminal of the ALDL and that didn't make it come on.

Then I bypassed the relay and it still didn't come on.

On the Camaros, to remove the headlight switch, you have to remove the gauge cluster and take the rod out of the switch, then pull the switch out from the back. I had to change it on my 86. It's not fun either, but since I already have the gauge cluster out I'm already half way there. I just hope the mounting points are broken. It was 13 bucks for a replacement switch back in 96 or 97 so it's probably around 20 or 25 now.

Mine has no wheels, no engine, no tranny, no rear, no fuel tank, no brake pedal and no wiring. I'm partway through an LS1 swap lol.

Posted By: Pocket On: 09-07-2009 @ 00:57:30     Reply | Top | Edit
You do know it doesnt have to become a shell to swap it right?

Posted By: Shift On: 09-07-2009 @ 11:58:41     Reply | Top | Edit
Wheels came off for obvious reasons, engine / tranny came out and got sold, rear end came out so fuel tank could come out so fuel pump could come out, brake pedal came out so booster could come out so paint could go on, wiring came out with engine.

I plan on leaving my stuff intact aside from the must removes

No point in going that far

Posted By: Shift On: 09-08-2009 @ 14:25:14     Reply | Top | Edit
Only thing that wasn't a must was the brake pedal / booster.
