I cant get my bird to start. I changed the fuel pump and filter. I have spark and fuel pressure at the rails..it cranks fine but she just wont fire off.
I have a new battery, starters good, gas in the tank..she wont fire off.
I had a code 42, took the chip out, reinstalled, and the code is gone...no new codes. Fuel pump kicks on for 2 sec during start, then turns off(like its supposed too)...she just wont fire off....wtf?
I had the module under the distributer tested..its good..changed the secondary coil in the distributer and still she wont fire off.
Is the ECM bad? It seems like its not getting gas, pulled out one of the plugs...did the sniff check...mostly oil smell.
Checked the injectors with a test light..no blink, just steady light..no fire off.
Disconnected the MAF sensor, computer should have used a default value and motor should have started but did not..reconnected, still not start.
TPS is relatively new....during crank sometimes it sounds like it wants to start but doesn’t.
This is very troubling, very frustrated, i have owned this car for 13 years, always done my own maintenance, but this problem is kickin my A@#...can you guys help?
Thanks

Pocket...thanks for the info, heres the update, the car still wont start....it cranks, but wont run. Here are specifics:
1) turn key to run, i hear the fuel pump kick on then turn off..i put in a new pump about 3 weeks ago (what a bitch that was)
2) changed pickup coil and ignition module
3) checked spark...spark is good
4) Stuck a test light in the injector connections then cranked....and it lights..good pwr to injectors
5) Changed ECM
6) Good fuel pressure
Is the tachometer gage supposed to drop to zero during start? I turn the key to start, the engine cranks, the tach maxes out then drops off...is that right?
Also, the computer is not giving any codes....only 12
During the fuel pressure check, I crank it, pressure reads about 47 psi and no start...I dump the pressure, and repeat....on the third attempt i get no pressure reading...wtf?
Any other ideas?

Sounds like a faulty regulator, but those usually give an intermittent start or attempts to
Check for spark during cranking and check that the coil is securely plugged into the harness connectors
If spark checks out you're down to a fueling issue
Pull a plug and sniff it. Gas smell means not enough or way to much fuel causing flooding. Either should cause attempts to fire and you would hear them
Have you recently had the distributor off? Do you have it 180* off?
What is the cranking fuel pressure? How fast does it take the 47psi to bleed back down to 0 when left alone?
Good few places to start looking
