Posted By: 84cam On: 10-05-2008 @ 10:52:29         Reply | Edit
Hey guys I found this site was hoping yall could help me.I had a engine built for my 84camaro.The problem I am having is a vibration from 3000rpms and up.The rotating assembly is balanced.Could it not have been balanced correctly or could anything else cause a vibration.Any suggestions would help.THANKS

if it wasn't balanced properly, i have a feeling it would do more than just vibrate. the balance of an engine is pretty critical.

Check:
plugs
vacuum lines
flexplate is in correct position
correct balance flexplate is being used
correct balancer is being used
crank pulley is strait
headers are not crushed

Thanks for all the responses. It has solid motor mounts.I dont think the flywheel is cracked. The fly wheel dont wobble. The balancer came with the rotating assembly.Doesnt have a pulley Plugs are ok.Just frustrating new engine with problems.

my dad's 31 ford had solid motor mounts in it. its no fbody, but it was along the same things your describing. it has a zz4 crate motor in it, and we put in the solid mounts. because there is next to nothing to the car, it vibrated so bad it wasn't even driveable. so i take that lil tid-bit of infromation, and put it with what your saying, it makes pretty good sense. i'd say go for a set of poly mounts and see what happens there. they are still very stiff, but should take out some if not all the vibrations. if that doesnt work, go back to a stock style rubber one.

Yes I feel like a idiot. My crank didnt have a dowell pin in it for the flywheel so I didnt have the hole in the crank and the hole in the flywheel lined up.Pulled the trans turned the flywheel so the two holes lined up crunk it up.Runs smooth.I hope it didnt beat the bearings tooo bad.
