86 IROC

Posted By: 44duff On: 08-08-2008 @ 15:52:06         Reply | Edit
Looking to buy a 3rd generation F body. Not familiar with all the options that they had throughout the years. I found one that's been repainted and is in good shape. Has a late '60 chevy truck engine in it (307), 700 trans and open diff. There are no emblems on the exterior, so I don't know if it was an IROC or Z originally. It's had a fair amount of work done to it and, like I said, is in good shape. It does say Z28 on the dash and has t-tops. I'm not really concerned about originality becuase I will be swapping the engine anyway. Just looking for opinions about the price and if it really is an IROC. The seller is asking $4000.00 or best offer. Thanks for any thoughts. Will try to get a pic of it this weekend. Also, I'm in the process of cleaning by brother in law's '82 Camaro that's been mothballed for about 15 yrs. The plastic around the back seat and in the hatch area is basically white instead of blue. Any fix for that other than replacement?

What's everyone's opinion of a decent price for it?

Half that if its in decent condition

Less if it has issues

Plastic repair is more expensive than replacement
In 20 years reapir may be worthwhile but for now just swap and forget it

where are you from?

i have an 86 IROC with 92,000 miles that i may sell, if interested. i know you said you have an engine, but i just installed a professionally rebuilt '88 350 bored .030, HO 64cc combustion heads. had $1,500 in machine work alone. has a .475 lift cam, edelbrock performer intake, edelbrock 750 cfm carb, (all new parts) all new a/c compressor, new a/c condenser, new a/c hoses, new clutch/p.plate/t.o. bearting (5 speed), new slave/master/reservoir, shorty headers, new alternator, new battery, new MSD distributor, new plugs, new wires, new radiator, new 3" exhaust...all NEW parts under hood. have receipts to show over $4,500 invested under hood.

engine was started on stand and broken in and breakin oil changed out, but otherwise hasn't been run as i'm finishing up bolting everything up.

body is next to perfect but could use paint. a good wax/buff job would do it wonders. has t-tops.

black exterior, grey interior.

i am 2nd and 5th owner of the car. just bought it back 3 months ago and it has the same inspection sticker on it as when i sold it 13 years ago.

reason i'd like to sell is i found one i'd rather have. link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevrolet-Camaro-IROC-Z-1988-CAMARO-IROC-Z-CONVERT-RARE-FULLY-LOADED-5-SPEED_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6161QQihZ012QQitemZ220265836446QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

have close to $6,000 total invested in the car already - paid $1,000 for it, plus all the NEW parts i've installed under the hood. may make you a deal you can't refuse...

email me at quenton1@frontiernet.net if interested and i'll give you more information.

Half if it has no other real serious problems. Mine is the same with a new paint job, decals are expensive and I am waiting to add another coat before proceeding.

I think that price is steep considering i bought my fiance an 88 iroc with a gm perf. parts 350 for 1500.00. its nice has 78000 on body and like ten on motor. better deals are out there.
