Vehicle Anti - Theft System

Its a small chip embedded into the ignition key that holds a specific resistance
When the IGN is turned power is sent from the module up thru the key and if the correct resistance is not returned from the key to the module, the module will not allow the engine to start

This is the 80's method of preventing any toothless moron with a screwdriver from stealing a GM car. It is easily defeated but until it is small issues like lost keys, old keys or wiring changes become big problems

That's how I got my IROC for 500 bucks. Girl could never find anyone that could fix it and parked it until I talked to her about it. She tole me it would start and then leave her stranded intermittently. So I offered her 500 and fixed it for .99. I had to buy a 5 pack of resistors at Radio Shack. They don't sell them individually there.

Thats how i fixed my buddies 96 caprice after someone else had replaced his VAT lock cylinder a couple months back. One of the wires broke again (probly from a sh!tty install) so i showed him my permanent yet reversible fix from radio shack. LOL he thought I was god after 45 seconds under his dash.
