successfull starts

Posted By: 1992Z28 On: 07-04-2008 @ 13:29:48         Reply | Edit
I hooked up a jumper button to the starter to make it engage and that doesnt work but if I press the button and turn the key at the same time the car will start every time. Can anyone tell me why? I took a voltage reading from the wire(ppl) that is going to the solenoid and it reads consistently 12.06 volts.

You must be taking power from the IGN pole
Jumper from the battery pole to the IGN pole
(Big red to purple)

I would really like to not have to use the jumper button at all. I just hooked it up so I could at least get the car to start.

Dandy

Well its even more simple to wire correctly

Big red goes directly to the battery
purple goes thru the firewall near the brake booster, down to the IGN of the column
about halfway down
